Guest guest
I thought I sent a link to a site with info on the dangers of low cholesterol. In brief, cholesterol under 160 leads to increased risk of cancers, and several other problems, not least of which is a greatly increased risk of strokes. I'd rather stay hypo than have my cholesterol remain this low. Low cholesterol also leads to increased hormone problems, like I didn't have enough already at a normal cholesterol?? sol nafoel wrote: > Also...is 150 too low? Guest guest
Val, My reading indicates that anything under 160 is too low, and carries all the serious risks of low cholesterol. 180-200 is considered healthy by most of those who don't subscribe to the lower is better myths. sol T wrote: > I would not think 150 was too low but would worry if it went lower. > >
Guest guest
Well I think still you are better off wiht a BIT loiw cholesterol than hypo. But as I said lowering the T3 a BIT should allow it to come up to normal ranges. My labs say 180 is top number... so I am still a tiny bit high and do not worry about it at 200, -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets

But..............68.75 to 75 mcg is what I had been on for at least a month, and had been attempting to raise above 62.5 for at least a month before that, all before the blood test. So, help me here, maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see what good lowering only to 75 mcg is going to do? That only removes the last 6.25 raise I did that took place after the blood test. > My labs say 180 is top number... so I am still a tiny bit > high and do not worry about it at 200, > All my labs going back to 1984 have had 200 as the top number. And I was perfectly happy at 215. Keep in mind I have never before had a total chol under 177. Never in 24 years of records. For me 143 is a horrible number. And I truly fear the risks of low cholesterol every bit as much as hypo, after all, I've likely had hypo for decades without dying, but I've NEVER had low cholesterol before. I think they are very serious risks, every bit as serious as being hypo. If I had only lowered to 180, I'd be fine with it. And if I didn't have the liver enzymes to worry about, also.... FWIW, I would not plan to stay off thyroid entirely forever, just long enough to start with an endo or get re-tested by my current PA, without having to lie about what I'm taking. There is ONE clinic in this town with TWO doctors and a couple PAs. I don't want to get fired by my PA. I need her for other routine medical stuff, like my Rx antihistamines, etc. Maybe I should just chill out, but I can't stop this panic attack. Maybe I should go stress dose a little HC, LOL. sol
Guest guest
An interesting idea, but I dont' see any signs of better overall hormone balance. Considering I didn't realize I had apparently gone hyper maybe I would not notice increase in other hormones either. It seem to me like if that isn't the reason for the lowering, I now have no chance of improving other hormones, or cortisol either. Nothing to make them with now, in either case? I still have a hard time believing this could be an accurate result, even while I am in the midst of total panic. sol Nil wrote: > excuse my ignorance if this is a stupid answer but could it be that hc helped cholesterol to be converted to other hormones and this is the reason your cholesterol came down. it could be that it is being utilized more than it is being generated. > >
Guest guest
Done, as of today! Will let you know how it goes. I have lost all the bit of confidence I was building in my ability to recognize and separate symptoms. I really see now how shocked you must have been when you found out your T3 really was so high! It feels like I ran into a tree. Completely blindsided. sol T wrote: > As you did this raise after the labs, whic I missed, go to 50mcg.
