Guest guest
- is at " work " right now. He is in the Leader in Training program through the local Boys and Girls Club. It is a crash course exposure for him to all the misuses and abuses one can receive at the hands of younger children when they are pent up in day care. He is weathering it well and developing a very deep humoured assertiveness. I will move your post into his in-box, because I think he might have a word or two to say about this subject. ) I feel the growth hormone replacement therapy did increase 's general strength, stamina and " fullness " of body. has been very diligent in both his exercises and the use of his brace, and we'd like to think that it is only this bad because of all his efforts ) Of course, so many other possibilities sink the heart and come to mind.... I had not heard of the brace made by SpinCor, but I just looked them up on the internet. ( http://www.losangelesscoliosistreatmentcenter.com/about_brace.html ) What an interesting dynamic brace! I recall there being a similar dynamic wrapping for therapeutic use talked about a while back on the list - but I apologize, it's mired in the mush that is my brain today. was just shy of four feet tall when he was in the fifth grade (46 inches, 46 pounds. We used to tease him and say he was " square " ) ) He was a little under four foot three inches when he entered High School in ninth grade. He started the growth hormone injections in February of 2003 - the Spring before High School. He graduated High School at five foot two and a half inches - and he is VERY HAPPY about that. I don't sense a moment of regret that there might be connection between the curvature and the growth hormone therapy - though he is quick to say he is quite happy with the growth he has and is happy to stop the injections if it will help stop the curvature (the Endocrinologist is reviewing his chart today). This process has been very dynamic, and the best advice I can give you is to take it one small step at a time. Everything has been on a " try and see " basis with regard to the hormone replacement therapies and the spine. There was no way to predict the responses and reactions 's body would have to the various therapies beforehand.\ I hope this helps, Please feel free to ask anything you think of, our lives are open books- Best to you- yuka Re: Scoliosis and growth hormone Yuka, Thanks for your reply. These are all issues that we have mulled over. I am wondering if the growth hormone would help 's strength? I know it will affect her scoliosis, but will her added strength help her more than the risk of worsening the curve??????? Also, have you ever seen the brace made by SpineCor? Right now, wears a " turtle shell " that is supposed to keep her from getting worse. However, I feel that the curve is worsening anyway...she has only gained an inch in the last year, but her pants are about 3 inches shorter. That tells me that her body has lengthened but her curve makes the height less. We see our ortho in a month. I also talked with about the possibility of taking shots every day to make her grow better and she asked me if she could have a shot tomorrow? So, I think she has noticed how little she is compared to her friends. Of course, her 7 year old sister is about 4 inches taller than she is .
