Guest guest
I've been experiencing night sweats and hot flashes for a few months, some severe. My husband bought me a bedside fan, which is wonderful, I never dreamed it would help so much. It didn't stop the night sweats obviously, but if feels so good and makes them bearable. To the point of the post, I've been working with Dong Quai Yogi Tea and Nature's Sunshine's 500 mg Pro-G Yam cream with only minimal success. I had less episodes, 2 or 3 a night, and less severity, but couldn't get it under control....after reading Val's posts on hypoglycemic symptoms at night, I changed my protocol. I've been hypoglycemic since high school, but never though of having problems at night. Anyway, I added Sweet Ease, from Banyan Botanicals to my night-time regiment, and haven't had a night sweat in 6 days. One night I forgot and woke up hot, I ate about 3 T of cottage cheese and went back to bed, also with no other problems. So, I would venture to say that for me, the experiement has proven that my night sweats were caused by my hypoglycemia, not by my perimenopause. (I had hysterectomy nearly 20 years ago, but they left a portion of one ovary, which never produced properly, but is apparently now at 44 years, giving up producing at all) I am still having trouble sleeping, waking up 2 to 3 times a night, melatonin doesn't help at all, and am going to test valerian startig tonight...
