Early hours palpitations, hypoglycemia and adrenalin surges

If anyone's got any ideas on what I could try next for my early-hours

palpitations I'd love to hear them!

I'm fairly sure they're caused by a low blood sugar-related adrenal

surges. I follow a very low carb diet usually and small protein+raw

veg snacks in between my 3 meals seem to work well during the day.

But having a protein snack before bed doesn't seem to prevent the

early-hours palpitations. In fact, I seem to last a lot longer (5 or

6 hours compared to only 2 or 3) when I take a few days off and eat

carbs (but that's not a real solution because any carbs even

the 'good' ones such as wholegrains and whole fruits just make me

pile on the weight).

BTW I'm taking 3 Nutri adrenal, 2 Nutri Thyroid and 20 mcg T3 in

split doses per day plus other vits/oils. (Dr Peatfield got me to try

upping the dose of adrenal and T3 but I got terrible

head/neck/backache so I've now scaled back).

Before Dr Peatfield/adrenal support I was on T4 75 mcg and T3 10 or

15 mcg. It was only when I began the adrenal support that I started

getting the palps every night as opposed to once in a while ... My

adrenal stress index test showed abnormally high cortisol in the

morning, too low for the midday and late afternoon then normal for

the late night reading. The blurb said 'This may be a reflection of

low night time blood sugar levels, ... glycogen storage impairment or

an imbalance in the hypothalmic adrenal axis'.

Maybe being perimenopausal (I'm nearly 51 and it looks like I may

have just had my first 'missed period') means hoping to get some kind

of adrenal equilibrium is a forlorn hope just now? Dr P suggested we

check my progesterone level with a view to natural progesterone but I

can't do the test for another couple of weeks so will have to be

patient.

Sorry for long post ...

Jackie
