Hi there,

I am on armour a year after getting results showing i had Total T4

levels low (towards bottom of reference range) and a slightly

elevated TSH - 2.38.

I had all the symptoms of adrenal fatigue which i am also treating.

TOTAL THYROXINE (T4) =59.1 Ref:58 - 154 nmol/L

TSH =2.38 Ref:0.4 - 4.0 mIU/L

FREE THYROXINE (T4) =14.3 Ref:10 - 22 pmol/L

FREE T3= 5.24 Ref:2.8 - 6.5 pmol/L

FREE T4 : FREE T3 RATIO =2.73 Ref:3 - 5

I read however that -

''elevated T4 levels may be obtained when TBG levels are high, as in

pregnancy, acute intermittent porphyria, hyperproteinemia,

hereditary TBG elevation and in patients undergoing estrogen therapy

or taking oral contraceptives. Total T4 levels may be depressed when

TBG levels are low, as in nephrotic, hepatic, gastrointestinal and

neoplastic disorders; in acromegaly, hypoproteinemia and hereditary

TBG deficiency; and in patients undergoing androgen, testosterone or

anabolic steroid therapy.''

also

''TBG is decreased primarily by anabolic steroids, including

testosterone, by diseases such as cirrhosis, acromegaly and

nephrosis, and by excess amounts of corticosteroids''

In adrenal fatigue my corticosteroid levels would have been high, i

am now wondering if i ever had hypothyroidism as most of my symptoms

were adrenal?

Also how long would it take to wean off 3.75mg of armour?

Thanks..
