Guest guest
Hi there, I can tell you what I've learned from 30 years of practicing yoga and using alternative and TCM for healing in addition to good ole' often mis-guided western medicine... LOL... My current yoga teacher is also an accupuncturist and she told me the same thing that my regular accupuncturist said, and she studied in China.... get the labs done, find out what's going on, take the meds, stabilize, and get out of danger... THEN start TCM and heal. Doing yoga 3-5 times a week really helps, esp if you do hatha and kundalini as the asanas/poses and 'locks' or holds in the pelvic, abdominal and throat area stimulate the adrenals, endocrine system, cleanse the liver and kidneys, and the throat locks stim the thyroid. Meditation, and deep breathing heal the autonomic nervous system and release stress, and the focus on the 'third eye', works on the pineal/pituitary/hypothalmus.... I'm sure that accupuncture and chinese herbs would also help. However, you can buy a cheap yoga dvd or book at a used book store, and start a home practice. Unless you're a huge overachiever who likes to torture your body... you can't hurt yourself...and that's the whole philosopy of yoga... which is at least as old if not older than TCM.... learning to listen to your body and what it needs... and treating it gently...with love and patience, adn accepting it whever it is... a challenge that I face daily, now. I'm assuming that you're in the UK as you mentioned the NHS. I'm on the east coast in the US... but even here, we have so much alternative care available, and there are good resources on the internet for free yoga downloads. www.yogatoday.com is excellent. I bought a dvd of Ana Brett and Ravi Singh titled Yoga Beauty Body becuase it was recommended to me. I went from 10 years or more of gentle hatha yoga and meditation into power yoga, Bikram/heated yoga, Ashtanga which is very muscular, controlled and cardiovascular/aerobic, as the power and Bikram are....and now to Yoga Beauty Body, which is kundalini...a shock to me as I enjoy the sweating, strengthening poses that my doc will not let me do at present... .This dvd includes some of the traditional asanas, but it doesn't have the sun salutation flow as it is based on healing the inner body and creating true beauty through inner health via kundalini practices, so it focuses on things that stim and heal the entire endocrine network, and balance the nervous system. It's quite different, but has a playful, joyful, peaceful quality and is a beginning level of difficulty. I highly recommend it... and again, it's almost impossible to hurt yourself...... I'm on Armour. Started at 5mg Jan a yr ago. Up to 112mg, but wish I'd known more about adrenal support, and done that right from the beginning with cortison in some form, rather than Dr. 's herbal rebuilder... becuase I crashed again after about 8-9 months on it. Went off everything except Armour and WEllbutrin, retested saliva for everything, adn finally got Doc to order everything else I needed to move forward. Just started on the HC, on the dosing schedule in the files here, and on my 4th day... feel like a new woman! but it has taken much patience, discipline, reading this stuff an hour or so a day. risking asking questions and pushing my doc and others for answers, and then the biggie... doing what they say, while using my own intuition about my health... I haven't gone for accupuncture in the past year....waiting to stabilize everything else. And I had to continue to work fulltime, though I was forced to give up almost every other activity and group I was involved with... but they seem to be doing fine without me... LOL... sorry.. I'm not a moderator.. these are my thoughts.. take them for what they're worth... . I've been helped so much here...keep on searching, working and healing....my good wishes are with you...
