heavy metals - adrenals & thyroid

My dr is running tests for heavy metal poisoning. (I've got results

from 2 yrs ago, so we already know it's there.) She's running two

tests 1) 24 hr urine test withOUT a chelation agent and 2)24 hour

urine test WITH the use of a chelating agent. I'm currently fighting

a sinus infection with swollen lymphs in my neck.

I've tested for low HC and currently supplement. I've also tested for

thyroid, but don't yet have the results back. IE, with the exception

of HC, no treatment has been started as she didn't want it to

interfere with the testing. I've also had to come off the Vita C for

the test (which is why I think I've got the infection).

The chelating agent is DMSA which I've had fatigue reactions to before

(although with a much different dosing schedule for the test). She

knows this but wants to get the test done anyway to see how much of my

dysfunction is from the metals vs what might be inherited (both mother

and grandmother look like they may have had adrenal&thyroid trouble

but without dx). I know the glands, once balanced, can help the body

detox naturally. I think she's just trying to assess where we are now.

Question: Does anyone have in info/sources they could share with me?

I'm a little worried about the test. If it's just going to bring back

fatigue for a few days, I can tough it out. I'm worried it may have a

more lasting affect with my being so weak right now. Below is the

protocol from last time I " tried " to take treatment vs how she wants

to test.

2006:

Chelation Test: 1000 mg, 1x DMSA

Treatment: 500 mg DMSA, 1x/week with MgK and ground flax seeds 5-6

hours later

2008:

Chelation Test: 100mg, 3x/day for 2 days. Urine collection to start on

day 2

Thanks in advance for your help!
