Guest guest
I have been trying to find information on hormone replacement for women with surgical menopause (no ovaries, no uterus). Amazingly though I did find an article that said approx 600,000 hysterectomies per year were performed in the years 1990 to 1997, I cannot find anything specific about what castrated women need. What I'm finding is instead very brief mention of hysterectomy/removal of ovaries (from a paragraph to a sentence in very large books!), but so far everything I've read about hormone replacement is really for women who are intact but are post menopausal. It seems to be generally assumed that hormone replacement is the same for both, but I don't see how that makes sense, since a uterus has hormone receptors, and so do ovaries. Those of us without those organs no longer have those receptors, so how could the hormone needs/appropriate doses and so forth be the same? Getting very frustrated, can anyone point me to info specifically for women who no longer have a uterus or ovaries? thanks, sol
