CHINESE MEDICINE OR ARMOUR THYROID

Hi,

I am new to the group and wondered if anyone could offer me any

advice from their own personal experience or knowledge.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism many years ago and have been on

medication ever since.

Currently on 100mg levothyroxine

20mg liothyronine sodium

I still feel very tired and have recently suffered very high levels

of stress. Like many I have been told my thyroid blood tests are ok

so I must have depression and chronic fatigue.

Last blood test result:

TSH level 0.1 mu/L

free T4 level 15.4

free triiodothyronine level 6.8 pmol/L

I have recently had an adrenal stress test where my 11.00am and

16.00pm Cortisol levels were low.

2.4 (reference 4 - 8)

1.5 (reference 3 - 7)

My DHEA levels were fine.

My specialist has suggested I start adrenal support, taking the

following:

Nutri adrenal, Nutri thyroid, possibly Cortisone(Cortef),

Thyro complex and switch to Armour thyroid.

I was wondering of anyone else has tried this, how long it took and

what their results were. Also what sort of cost I would be looking at

as I am off work sick at the moment and I am really struggling for

money.

Is it possible to get Armour thyroid on the NHS.

I would also be interested to know if anyone has tried chinese

medicine and what it involved. And if it is possible to just use

chinese medicine instead of taking Armour thyroid, synthetic

thyroxiene or having adrenal support.

Is it possible to get you thyroid gland working again using chinese

medicine. I would much rather go down the chinese medicine root if it

works than taking steroids etc.

Very sorry about the long message but I am so glad to find other

people here who have had the same problems I have had with the nhs it

gives me a bit of hope.

Thankyou Tash
