Guest guest
Kem, I'm not Nick, hopefully he sees your post soon. But I can offer what little knowledge and experience I've had to share with you. I have the heart pounding issue from time to me and for me, it always low cortisol. I know you said you feel no ill effects from lowering your HC, but the heart pounding you're experiencing could be an ill effect you're not recognizing as related to low cortisol. I know I get it I take a dose of t3 and don't have enough cortisol to handle it. Also, I recently lowered my HC (by too much, unfortunately)) and I was having issues with my 3rd t3 dose, too. What was happening is that my heart would pound like crazy and my temps would crash after the 3rd dose. So just somethng to think about -- that maybe it's not time to lower HC especially if you are still raising t3. Also, it could be you need some salt. Have you tried that and see if it helps. Salt actually lowers my blood pressure a lot and I see lots of posts from the mods to try salt to lower a high pulse, too. And low sodium can make you tired, too. Trying 1/2 tsp salt in a glass of water is easy to do and will readily tell you if that's helping or not. Hope this helps, Kathleen > > Val, Nick, I'm into my 9th week on T3 and doing fairly well. Guest guest
I htink you need to try reducing the HC more. http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ Val, Nick, I'm into my 9th week on T3 and doing fairly well. More energy, no hypo symptoms to really report. This week I've been taking 25, 18.75, 25, 18.75 mcg T3 and 5, 7.5, 7.5, 2.5 mg HC. It doesn't seem like I've needed as much HC last month so I lowered it with no ill effects. My last cortisol saliva test a year ago showed I have good cortisol available in morning and then dump to bottom the rest of the day. Over the past 5 days I raised the T3 from 25, 18.75, 18.75, 18.75 up to 25, 18.75, 25, 18.75 because I was starting to get a bit tired by my third dose so felt I needed a raise. My pulse and bp has been pretty normal since the T3 raise for the first 2 doses of T3 but I've been noticing this week that about an hour or 2 after I take my 3rd dose of T3 I start getting mild heart pounding. Usually after an hour passes from 3rd dose my pulse and bp stay in the 130 - 140/70-80 range with bp in the 80's - 90's but the heart pounding is mildly noticeable. Today when I took my third dose of T3, 2 hours afterwards I noticed the pounding and took my bp/pulse and it was 153/82 pulse was 92. All week long the pounding doesn't last for more than an hour and when I take my 4th dose the pounding has already subsided. I take iron daily and my ferritin levels were good last labs I took. I'm wondering if I need to reduce the T3 back to 18.75 on third dose and try 25, 25, 18.75, 18.75 instead? I know we want to keep our T3 as level as possible but somethings going on an hour or 2 after my third dose. I raised it last week because by 3rd dose I was really starting to get tired so I'm a bit confused as to what to do. Guest guest
Interesting thought Kathleen but I've been lowering the HC 2.5mg per Val due to other stuff prior to this, it helped a lot. I also should have added in the report that my temps are really stable and averaging about 98.6 every day and have been at normal levels for well over a month now.<<Posted by: "keickholt13" keickholt13@... keickholt13Tue Jul 27, 2010 3:24 pm (PDT)Kem,I'm not Nick, hopefully he sees your post soon. Guest guest
Val, I know the last time I talked to you about some problems I was having I thought it was a T3 issue and you said lower HC...and that did the trick. So, ok, I'll lower another 2.5 mg HC at my third dose (I'm assuming that's the dose your referring to) and give that a try. I didn't hear from you in time today so I just stuck with the same amounts, didn't want to screw something up so, starting tomorrow I'll continue the T3 at 25, 18.75, 25, 18.75 mcg and try the HC at 5, 7.5, 5, 2.5 mg and see if I notice a difference after my third dose. You know the only difference with my HC is the pharmacy changed manufacturers to West-ward and Qualitest so maybe it's a bit stronger than what I was taking before. Guest guest
Val, I lowered the HC Wednesday as you suggested. My 4 doses of T3 and HC are around 9am, noon, 3pm and 6pm. Guest guest
The pounding heart is a symptms that can be from SO many things. Salt does nto help it, Salt helps a too fast pulse sometimes, btu not the opounding Magnesium sometimes help sit. It is bqasically an imbalance symptoms thta I had for over 6 years btu it is gone now. I really do nto knwo what caused it or fixed it but it seems ot be an annoying but harmless symptom. If this started or worsened when oyu lowered the HC I would go back up. If you had it before and it is the same, perhaps you need to reduce HC further. Guest guest
Well the only thing I really noticed with lowering HC was my allergies started acting up again and blood pressure getting a bit lower/I'm borderline prehypertension anyway. This morning I took my meds at 9 and turned over to go back to sleep (had a late night with ongoing heart pounding). I slept another hour and was woken up by the heart pounding again, felt pretty warm so I got up and took my bp/pulse/temp and it was 121/73, 65, temp 97.0. The heart pounding is a new deal with me. I've read elsewhere that heart pounding can have to do with an overactive thyroid (too much T3) or low potassium but my pulse normally stays under 90 and I don't know what the difference is between potassium or magnesium;-). My last electrolyte labs didn't have magnesium on them unless it's called something besides magnesium on the test. My potassium was 4.2 range 3.5 - 5.2. I don't know what to do about this pounding, it started off at my 3rd dose and now seems to be going late into the night and carrying over into the day now...it's a mystery. Guest guest
Val, I'm thinking I may have actually cleared. If you think I'm totally missing it on this please let me know, last thing I want to do is make myself sicker. I just checked the calendar and t's been 10 weeks now and seems the more T3 I keep taking the worse the pounding and sweats happen. Below is what happened 4 hours after I reported my 4th dose and what I did about it. I read where Nick said your temps and pulse can get high at clearance and I'm thinking I'm accumulating too much T3 towards the last 2 doses, been taking 87.5 T3 mcg. Anyway, I think need to cut my T3 down across the day to 18.75 4x and dose my HC back up 2.5 mg at end of the day due to shakey feeling. I'm going to hold the T3 at 75 mcg for the next couple of days and if I'm still having issues I'll cut back on that further until I figure out the dose that won't give me high pulse or feeling hot after 3rd dose. Nick says to cut the dose down and then work back up to find the long term dose. My RT3 ratio was 14.8 so I'm really hoping 10 weeks is what it's taken for me to clear. * 110/66 87 4 hours after 4th dose/pounding - took extra 2.5 mg HC and magnesium* 126/77 87 pounding almost gone Kem in Eugene <º)))>< Well the only thing I really noticed with lowering HC was my allergies started acting up again and blood pressure getting a bit lower/I'm borderline prehypertension anyway. My RT3 ratio was 14.8 so I'm really hoping 10 weeks is what it's taken for me to clear. * 110/66 87 4 hours after 4th dose/pounding - took extra 2.5 mg HC and magnesium * 126/77 87 pounding almost gone Kem in Eugene <º)))>< Well the only thing I really noticed with lowering HC was my allergies started acting up again and blood pressure getting a bit lower/I'm borderline prehypertension anyway. Guest guest
All you can do is try it. I never got the pounding symptoms from high T3 mine was alwauys when I was low in T3 and adrenals messed up but YOU may be differnt. Guest guest
Hi Val, Since my last post on Friday I've dropped and maintained the T3 at 18.75, 12.5, 18.75, 12.5 and HC to 5,5,5,5 and seem to be having somewhat better results without the major heart pounding, I am still having very mild pounding occasionally but it is much less than what I was dealing with last week. I wonder if I may have cleared, I'm beginning into my 11th week now? My temps get higher (though staying within .2 or .3 of daily 98.6 avg),my pulse gets over 90+ as well as higher blood pressure (Stage 1 hypertension levels) especially after the 3rd and 4th doses. I tend to get sweaty during these times as well. It still feels like I need to tweak the doses a bit, just not sure where so I'm sticking on this dose until I hear back from you. I have energy, no cold feet, no hair loss or other hypo symptoms I used to have. I would appreciate any further guidance you may have. Thanks!!Kem<<Posted by: " T" artisticgroomer@... valharlyFri Jul 30, 2010 3:07 am (PDT)All you can do is try it.
