Guest guest
the last time i did a saliva test for cortisol, i had not been on any thyroid hormone. how does this work if i dose my t3 sublingually 4times a day? and how should i handle any vitamins that day, ie, sublingual B12, vitC, D3, lysine, etc? i am doing the saliva test tomorrow... Guest guest
Hi is, I just did mine yesterday for the first time! I also take t3 sublingually.. I was told here not to take t3 the day of the test, so I didn't take it yesterday. I didn't take any vitamins either, except magnesium. I'm not sure why i decided to take magnesium and not b5 any b complex and vit d, but i just didn't take any of the other ones... i figured it's only one day i can skip it. I'm not an expert AT ALL i'm just learning myself, but I figured I'd reply since we're probably in the same boat / similar boat. I also called ZRT when i got nervous and asked a ton of questions yesterday they were really nice. i just called the 800 number on their website. good luck today! oh! they told me to not eat anything 2 hours before each sample, in case you haven't heard that! > > the last time i did a saliva test for cortisol, i had not been on any thyroid hormone. > how does this work if i dose my t3 sublingually 4times a day? > and how should i handle any vitamins that day, ie, sublingual B12, vitC, D3, lysine, etc? > i am doing the saliva test tomorrow... >

Guest guest
ok lisa just wanted to follow up. thank you for replying and helping me out. i think maybe they told you to not take it cuz you had just started? thats what i did when i first took one years ago, was on armour, then after a week or two it was making me feel weird...adrenal related. so i took the saliva test and the recommendation was to just not take the armour to get a basline reading on adrenals now i've been on thyroid 3-4 years, and t3 only for 6months, so i think i have to keep taking it even the day of the test. just searched the adrenals archives and came up with these two posts... just for everybody's information.... http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/message/8284\ 4 http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/message/7851\ 9 > > > > the last time i did a saliva test for cortisol, i had not been on any thyroid hormone. > > how does this work if i dose my t3 sublingually 4times a day? > > and how should i handle any vitamins that day, ie, sublingual B12, vitC, D3, lysine, etc? > > i am doing the saliva test tomorrow... > > >

The normal suggestion is to take T3 as normal when doing adrenal tests, apart from anything else we want to see the adrenal reaction to the T3. It might be better to swallow rather than go sublingual though. I don't know? I'm new at testing myself on my own... > thats what i did when i first took one years ago, was on armour, then after a week or two it was making me feel weird...adrenal related. Yeah that's what happened when I tried Naturethroid a couple of months ago... I stopped and a few weeks later started the Cynomel. I wasn't on anything for like a year and a half? before Naturthroid. so i took the saliva test and the recommendation was to just not take the armour to get a basline reading on adrenals > now i've been on thyroid 3-4 years, and t3 only for 6months, so i think i have to keep taking it even the day of the test. > just searched the adrenals archives and came up with these two posts... > just for everybody's information.... Thanks!!! Good to know! > Good luck on your test! Oh, and also I called val through the link on this group front page, for only 20 min. It really helped me get a good direction on how to move forward, so after talking to her I got ferritin tested and got the saliva cortisol test after telling myself I couldn't afford any tests for months. Talking to her helped me a lot!! And eased my anxietes maybe if you're super nervous you could give her a short call? It helped me, I don't know it's a thought http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/message/8284\ 4 > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/message/7851\

Guest guest
When I did my first test, it was because I was " crashing " every day after I started thyroid meds. And sure enough, the times I was down and out was when my cortisol was in the gutter. I didn't have the crashes ujntil I tried taking thyroid meds. That's when I discovered I had AF and my adrenals just couldn't keep up to tolerate thyroid hormone. So I do think it would change the picture if you didn't take any thyroid hormone the day of the test.
