Guest guest
does anyone know anything about the iron formula called Hema-plex? we have been using it and it does not cause any stomach issues ..it is combined with vitamin c and b's...it containes 85 mg of iron as an amino acid chelate....in 1 pill.... Subject: Re: Question about what to treat firstTo: RT3_T3 Date: Monday, August 9, 2010, 8:20 AM Carolyn, I was the same with iron but I’ve experimented with some different types and have had much better luck and am taking 200MG with little adverse side effects. I also found a doc who gave me an Iron IV but I had skin rashes from it and had to quit but many people have had success with this route too. Try taking Magnesium Citrate with the iron, it seems to do the trick for me . In addition to the Blue Bonnet Chelated iron that they suggest here I take : Iron Extra , Hemanitic formula , Energizing Iron (less than 2 MG but seems to help me tolerate the iron), and an Iron Glycinate. Also taking B12 helps you assimilate the iron, I take a weekly shot. My ferritin was 12 and was also told that my iron was fine! It wasn’t until I got the copy of the labs that I realized I was so low. I haven’t been retested yet but am hopeful. Good luck and don’t give up on the iron, Beth
Guest guest
I'm using Hema-plex as well. I don't know a lot about it, exceptthat the place where I purchase it is staffed with people who know a lot about nutrition and supplements and they have told me it'sa good quality supplement. Guest guest
I loved my Hema-Plex! It worked better than anything else, and I only had to take 2 or 2 1/2 a day to get adequate elemental iron (instead of 6 or 8 of many others). BUT I had to stop taking it because I tested high in copper, and Hema-Plex contains copper. It also contains vitamins B1 and B6, both of which I tend to be deficient in. It is worth noting Moderator Val's caution on combined or multi-type vitamins...there's no way to tell if one of the ingredients will disagree with you. For me, nothing in Hema-Plex disagreed with me at all, but this may not be true for everyone. If they introduced a copper-free version of Hema-Plex, I'd start taking it again in a second. > > > From: Gilchrist > Subject: Re: Question about what to treat first > To: RT3_T3 > Date: Monday, August 9, 2010, 8:20 AM > > >  > > > > > > Carolyn, I was the same with iron but I’ve experimented with some different types and have had much better luck and am taking 200MG with little adverse side effects. Guest guest
You find out copper levels with a blood test. Econolabs.com has it, it is relatively cheap. I believe high copper is fairly rare. Yes, the hema-plex is very effective at raising iron levels, isn't it? I think the other ingredients in it help with iron absorption. It never gave me a bit of stomach upset, either. I just don't do as well on anything else. I am bummed out that I have high copper and can't take it any more. > > > > > > From: Gilchrist > > Subject: Re: Question about what to treat first > > To: RT3_T3 > > Date: Monday, August 9, 2010, 8:20 AM > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > > > > > Carolyn, I was the same with iron but I’ve experimented with some different types and have had much better luck and am taking 200MG with little adverse side effects. Guest guest
i wonder if you could up your zinc intake to get rid of some of that copper?Subject: Re: hemaplex ironTo: RT3_T3 Date: Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 9:05 AM You find out copper levels with a blood test.
