Guest guest
Hi Lee, Magnesium 2.4 range 1.3 - 2.7 > > is this a Serum Magnesium? Yes, unfortunately I believe it is... where is the least expensive place I can get an RBC test?? I suppose with your email, I'd like to get sodium and potassium as well... I'm paying for my own tests (as I'm sure many people here are:) and cost is an issue for now... So if you know the best/ least expensive place to get it? with the test name? that would be amazing! With those symptoms I would strongly advise you try transdermal magnesium. I recommend Ancient Minerals I just looked it up, and sadly it's too expensive for me at this time, with everything else I need to make sure I have .... Personally I don't see how anyone can optimise/replentish Magnesium with oral supps. Please can you tell me why?? I would love to know more about this... Thanks so so much. Oh, and why would you have thought it was magnesium? Have you heard of this before?? I wonder if it's sort of like a restless leg type thing, I get the " shivers " kind of thing in my legs too where I just need to " shake it off " but it's in my chest 3 out of 4 times. It's really uncomfortable and mostly irritating. Thanks Lee!
Guest guest
Hi , : Where is the least expensive place I can get an RBC test?? " Lee: What country are you in? I'm in Australia but there are many on this group & NTH Adrenals who have had testing done in USA. They could advise best as to cost. Note some Labs may call it Erythrocyte Magnesium. Not all Labs do this test either. There are a few posts on testing. Some Labs mentioned are Doctors Data http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/3739 LEF http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/3776 Genova http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/3807 Speciality Labs http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/11300 Econolabs http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/13840 Have you seen Janie's blog? http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/2010/05/19/magnesium/ This is a good article http://www.pbraunmd.org/magnesiu.htm Lee:With those symptoms I would strongly advise you try transdermal magnesium. I recommend Ancient Minerals " : I just looked it up, and sadly it's too expensive for me at this time, with everything else I need to make sure I have It only costs US$29 to get the spray bottle. It will last you a long time & is in fact much cheaper than oral supps. http://www.magneticclay.com/store/magnesium-oil-ancient-minerals-8.aspx Lee:Personally I don't see how anyone can optimise/replentish Magnesium with oral supps. :Please can you tell me why?? Basically you are limited in what you can absorb orally. Way before you can absorb sufficient amounts you will get intolerance/bowel symptoms. You simply cannot take ENOUGH orally. When you are ill & stressed you need far more Magnesium too. Note Calcium intake is often far too high. Calcium is an antagonist of Magnesium. High Calcium intake will require a correspondingly higher need for Magnesium. Electrolytes ALL work together & need to be optimised & also Vit D works together with Magnesium & Calcium. However these results are only valid IF you followed correct protocols (no Iron supps for 5 days, tested early am, tested food fasting, no high Iron foods for 2-3 days). ZRT Saliva Tests 2nd Aug'10 DAY OF CYCLE~DAY 20? However Sex Hormone results NOT valid as only stopped DHEA 2 weeks & Progesterone 4 weeks before test & takes 6-8 weeks for Sex Hormones to reset to `baseline' levels. In addition Androgens (Testosterone & DHEAS) are not reliable when tested in Saliva Certainly look as if you need Progeaterone & DHEA (perhaps Testosterone too). How much Progesterone do you usually take, what type (oral, transdermal, bioidentical) & how dosed? Cortisol Morning 9.2 ng/ml 3.7-9.5 *GOOD Cortisol Noon 2.4 ng/ml 1.2-3.0 *OK Cortisol Evening 1.4 ng/ml 0.6-1.9 *OK Cortisol Night 1.3 ng/ml 0.4-1.0 *SLIGHTLY ELEVATED Comments: Cortisol looks good however may have been higher than usual due to stopping T3 day of test (increased Hypo increased Cortisol & Adrenaline?) and still on Paxil (increases Cortisol). BP & HR Sitting 131 systolic/68 diastolic HR 82 Standing 107systolic/66 diastolic HR 81 Comments: BP dropping significantly on standing suggests electrolyte imbalances/deficiencies & low Aldosterone. Notes 1/ Need Sodium, Potassium, Aldosterone & Renin tested 2/ To correctly assess Sex Hormones status need to be tested in blood (day 21of cycle) -DHEAS -SHBG -Total & Free Testosterone -Estradiol -Progesterone -FSH -LH 3/ Taking D3 despite not testing for 2 ½ years? Need to test 25-OHD and Corrected Calcium ASAP 4/ Normally would suggest B12 test however as already supping would suggest a CBC with ESR instead. 5/ RBC Folate & RBC Magnesium would also be good. However these results are only valid IF you followed correct protocols (no Iron supps for 5 days, tested early am, tested food fasting, no high Iron foods for 2-3 days). ZRT Saliva Tests 2nd Aug'10 DAY OF CYCLE~DAY 20? On Paxil /stopped T3 on day of test DHEA stopped 2 weeks prior/Progesterone stopped ~4 weeks prior Estradiol........5.7H pg/ml 1.3-3.3 Premenopausal (Luteal) *ELEVATED Progesterone...52L pg/ml 75-270 Premenopausal (Luteal) *DEFICIENT Ratio: Pg/E2 .....9L Optimal: 100-500 when E2 1.3-3.3 pg/ml Testosteron ....32 pg/ml 16-55 (Age Dependent) *SUBOPTIMAL DHEAS .........11.6 ng/ml 2-23 (Age Dependent) *LOW IN RANGE Comments: Estradiol shows elevated, Progesterone deficient, Testosterone & DHEAS are suboptimal Deficient Progesterone means likely you also have low Aldosterone and sitting/standing BP suggests this also. Guest guest
WOW! thank you SO MUCH Lee! I am so overwhelmed by all of this I am in serious financial bind, and I do not think I can afford more testing in any capacity for months... I just spent what little I do have on supplements. Guest guest
WOW! thank you SO MUCH Lee! I am so overwhelmed by all of this I am in serious financial bind, and I do not think I can afford more testing in any capacity for months... I just spent what little I do have on supplements. I do not know what to do. Some of these things I have changed, stopped taking, take more of etc... I can make notes on them in a bit, I'm kind of too overwhelmed to do it at the moment, I just wanted to thank you for going over this so thoroughly. Guest guest
Lee! Both these bp readings were sitting! BP & HR Sitting 131 systolic/68 diastolic HR 82 Standing 107systolic/66 diastolic HR 81 Lee! I just saw this, I am not sure how it translated that one test was sitting and one was standing, but that's not what happened. I took my bp and pulse and got the first result, and then I stood up for a second to untangle my dogs from something, and then I sat back down and took it again. It was at a machine in a drug store, the kind you sit at and stick your arm in the thing... Does this make a difference?? Thanks
Guest guest
Hi , I was in need of magnesium and just started the transdermal magnesium oil and it seems to be helping a lot. I found some by Swansons (also on Amazon or on the Swanson's website) that is much less expensive 8.99/bottle. It is from the same source as the Ancient Minerals and although they don't state the amount of magnesium per ounce like the Ancient Minerals product, I called Swanson's and spoke with a product rep who quoted the same level of magnesium per ounce. hth, > > > > Hi Lee, > > > > I'm in Los Angeles in USA. Guest guest
, Wow. thank you SO MUCH. what were your symptoms? and what did the magnesium help with? what has changed? how long did it take? and how much do you take? thanks so much for answering all these questions! > > Hi , > > I was in need of magnesium and just started the transdermal magnesium oil and it seems to be helping a lot. Guest guest
Hi , I don't know which symptoms were low ferritin and which were low magnesium exactly. I was having trouble still with anxiety and posted on the board about it and people pointed out my still low ferritin and also suggested taking magnesium for anxiety. And that was when I remembered testing low rbc magnesium a while ago. Duh. I have taken so many tests I have not been good about addressing everything. So I started taking a ton more iron and within a few days tried the magnesium oil as well. I will say that the first day I tried the magnesium I felt a surge of energy right afterwards - heart felt like it was beating harder and I just felt more energized/stronger in general. I don't feel that surge immediately after when I use it now, but I just feel stronger and so far, a little less anxiety. This could also be the iron taking effect too - I am now taking 300 mg. But since I was low and my body is under stress I figure I will keep it in my lineup for the time being, but I am still in the trying it out phase. I was spraying it on my skin, but it is kind of itchy so I just do the foot soak nightly - 4tbsp in a bowl where the water just covers feet. Maybe in time it will be less itchy and I will go back to spraying it on skin - you can use less product that way too. I think if you really need it you will feel a difference right away. The people who have commented on line about magnesium oil felt benefits quickly. I will add that my cycle is unusually long this month - going on 36 days - when I am usually 28 or so. Val said it might have to do with more t3 getting into cells from the iron. hth, > > > > Hi , > > > > I was in need of magnesium and just started the transdermal magnesium oil and it seems to be helping a lot.
