Guest guest
Again, I am not quite up to snuff on how the temps in the 30's translate to the temps in the 90's....I need a conversion chart i think. But your temps don't seem that irregular. They are not supposed to be rock solid on the same number all day. But usually similar upon waking and similar at various parts of the day. the tip off of adrenal weakness is when they drop when you have activity or stress or after you take the T3...as far as i understand it. also one of the simple tests on STTM site is to go in a dark room with a mirrow and shine a flashlight on your eye. If your pupil can't hold the contraction and it opens and closes with the light on it then your adrenals are weak. That is why i don't want to do fewer doses of the T3. i am doing 5 doses about 3 hours apart...I do like Nick suggested and i split the pills the night before and then carry the daily dose with me. i also set the alarm on my cell phone when i know I will be busy or possibly distracted to maybe forget a dose. I can certainly tell when i need an increase as the hypo symptoms creep up, and my temps dip. Right now my temps are still lower than when i had been optimized on my NDT before the RT3 problem....so i know I am not high enough....but I am doing it slowly....just 6.25 increase every 3 days at the earliest. I am doing this so as not to tax my adrenals. I know I have been under an incredible amount of stress since my mom has been in the hospital and we have had a lot going on, so i upped my adrenal glandular (like your isocort) and am not excercising right now. if I feel a bit better in another week i may resume weight lifting at home with some stretching, etc. If you up your dose and temps drop try upping the isocort. What about your D3 and B12? The fact you are having trouble sleeping really made me think of the sex hormones. When I don't have enough estrogen I can't sleep and I can't stay asleep....bad brain fog. many people do not know that the menopausal symptoms mimic the hypo thyroid symptoms so your really do have to test both to get a clear picture. I don't need a lot of estrogen but I need more than the typical .5mg 2X a day with progesterone. I hope you can hang in there and figure out what will work for you so you can clear your Rt3 problem successfully. It is good you have people Like Nick and Val to talk to. Sharon Remember! Guest guest
Thanks very much for your time in responding. I didn't sleep well last night again, and my heart is racing a lot. I am trying to purchase something to measure the pulse. I read Nick's 2 options, and thought I would first try reducing my T3 dose between today and tomorrow to around 50 and upping my isocort to 5-4-1 and see if that works....I am almost 6 weeks into this so I am going to stick to this protocol to see and hope that it works for me. One thing that Dr. Kharrazian told me is that it is essential that all hashisotos go on a strick gluten-free diet. My lab tests showed I didn't have a gluten problem but he said those tests are not conclusive and the only real way to test this is through some stool test.........there are so many things you should do and shouldn't do, should take and should not take, should eat and not eat, it is almost impossible to keep track of everything......... I am trying to purchase something to measure the pulse Feel for it with the fingers of one hand on inside of the wrist of the other Use a watch to time it and count how many there are in 15 seconds, multiply that by 4 and it's your pulse rate. You don't need to buy anything If you double click the clock on your computer you get one come up with a second hand, easy and nearby Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com

Still having some problems with GERD and irritability. Yes - go completely gluten free. Use Mission white corn tortilla shells instead of flour tortilla shells. You have to get gluten completely out of your system. There are tons of resources out there to help you. For the GERD try the baking soda test, the next time you get indigestion, drink a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water - if it resolves the problem you need HCL. It means you don't have enough stomach acid. As far as the irritability, while eating gluten I had terrible irritability and an inability to control my temper ... without gluten I'm a much nicer person. If I get " glutened " it takes 7 days to get over the symptoms and a month for my system to get over the inflammation. If you try it and feel better you may find that it is easier to stick with than you thought. Peaches_II

Guest guest
maybe i was lucky in the sense that the symptoms I had with gluten were so bad that when i tried going gluten free the relief was so pervasive and profound that I just don't dare mess up. I used to have severe abdominal pain from gluten intollerance....IBS type issues and this weird blistering and pealing on my fingers that no doc was ever able to diagnose ...all of which went away when i went gluten free. Now if i get a contamination (usually in restaurants from something on the grill or from marinades that often have gluten in them...I always bring my own salad dressing) my hand will get a bit of the blistering peeling which is my warning that I got contaminated. and then yes, it takes about a week to clear up and i am not back to normal for 2 weeks or more. I also used to get chronic yeast infections and no more now being gluten free. You have to read the ingredients on things like crazy because it is in things you would never suspect. Meatballs, marinades, salad dressings, deserts, some ice cream flavors, seasonings...all sorts of stuff. Yeah there are subtitutes for things but I figure I don't need the extra starch anyway. I use oatmeal for my grain source and sometimes pure corn tacos. But I eat a lot of raw foods and lean protein, raw nuts, fresh fruits. Yeah you are probably always going to look wistfully at some stuff you used to eat but hopefully how much better you feel will make it worth it to stick with what you need. It is definitely worth trying it whole heartedly and see how you feel. It is going to take a few weeks to notice the difference. best of luck, Sharon Remember! Guest guest
Cutting back on sugar is definitely good for you. I do cheat once in a while..but overall I don't eat anything with sugar in the ingredients. I also do not use splenda as it has been shown to mess with hormonal balance. i only use stevia. natural sugars such as in fruit and even some small amounts such as in mollases or honey not as harmfull as refined sugar which spikes your blood sugar and floods your system with insulin. worth the effort, Sharon Remember! Guest guest
oats are not gluten. But some things are processed in a factory that also processes wheat products so there can be cross contamination. some people are ultra sensitive and some just so-so. I use an oatmeal that says gluten free. But in a pinch I have had to use regular quaker oat meal and i didn't have a problem. when we were traveling I was in a diner and they had regular oatmeal, not instant, not flavored, and i was fine with it. But there are some people who can't eat anything made in the same kitchen as wheat products....just like people have varying degrees of peanut alergies. so you can do oatmeal. try to do the least processed foods you can...so not instant oatmeal, regular, unflavored, no sugar added. I microwave mine and i first soak it with 1 T ground flaxmeal and water. There are some instant oatmeals you can get in the health food store that have no added sugar....those are good when traveling or in a rush. The gluten free ice cream cones are awesome...10 calories each and they are light and crispy like the real thing! Sharon Remember! Dolls are people, too....have you hugged your dolls today? Guest guest
Correction, a piece of fruit WIL spike glucose and cause an insulin spike unless it is a whel fruit woith HIGH fiber such as an apple wiht skin. Guest guest
Oats are controversial. Here is the thing with oats, due to crop rotation oats can become cross-contaminated with gluten protein and therefore most say no WBRO - wheat, barley, rye or oats. However, there are oats available that are grown in soil that is not contaminated and they are tested to be sure that they are less then 20 ppm. However, many people with leaky gut syndrome also cannot tolerate oats until they heal their gut. Its the same with dairy. On the sugar, try evaporated cane juice, the Florida Crystal brand is a good one .... it is unrefined so doesn't spike your insulin like refined sugar and it is natural. I also use stevia, but avoid all refined sugar and especially high fructose corn syrup ... that is bad stuff. > > Peaches_II >

Guest guest
hey peaches, 1)how do you look for gluten on nutritional labels? i would like to go gluten free. my dad has made that step and his IBS is gone now. i dont know where to start though. i dont eat bread anyway, but i do love salads, and i used to love steel cut oats, and would like to have it again. i love nuts, seeds, peanut butter, almond butter, cheeses, cream cheese, deli meat, eggs, apples, veggies, steak, salmon, pork, my dads bbq chicken. 2)would i have to cut any of these things out? > > > > > > From: peaches_ii > > Subject: Re: going off T3, starting T4 an option?
