Guest guest
Hi : very glad you are making progress. Regarding iron labs: sometimes ferritin results can be falsely elevated by inflammation or other causes. To ensure getting a more complete " iron picture " , we now recommend also getting an iron panel. The iron panel results should have a % saturation, target for best thyroid utilization is % saturation of 35-45. My last iron tests are a good example. Despite an apparently good ferritin of 80, my last % saturation was an inadequate 22, so I've had to increase my iron supplementation. There may be a little fine-tuning here and there but it sure sounds like you are on the right track! > > I've been on T3 only for almost 6 weeks now. I'm up to about 56 mcg per day. Upping dosage has been pretty slow going for some reason. Temps seem to be fine. I just had labs done and the protocol seems to be working! Here are my previous labs from May: > MAY LABS > > TSH 2.42 (.34 - 4.82 uIU/ml) > > FT4 .38 (.77 - 1.61 ng/dL)** > > FT3 230 (230 - 420 pg/dL)** > > RT3 20 (11-32 ng/dL) > > Here are my labs from Aug 4: > TSH 1.35 (.34 - 4.82 uIU/ml) > FT4 .2 (.8 - 2.7 ng/dL) > FT3 233 (230 - 420 pg/dL) > RT3 5 (11 - 32 ng/dL) > > I also had ferritin, magnesium and B12 checked finally: > Magnesium (serum) 1.8 (1.8 - 2.4 mg/dL) > B-12 344 (200 - 1100 pg/mL > Ferritin 156 (3 - 244 ng/ml) > > I was surprised my ferritin level was decent. Is that high? B-12 and magnesium, not so much. I am dosing Isocort 4-2-2-1. Still feeling a little hypo/spacey and sometimes get the yawns later in the afternoon. Also get a little headachey/cross-eyed on occasion but I am thinking that could be hypo symptoms as well. I am having bloodwork done for glucose and cholesterol next week. > > Just wanted to share the good news! I'm excited it's working and I'm looking forward to feeling even better in another 6 weeks or so! THANKS TO EVERYONE who has shared knowledge/offered advise!! I finally feel optimistic about my journey to wellness. > > >
