Guest guest
That's a great question about the cast iron pan. I take t3 away from iron supplements, but I have no idea how much iron comes off a cast iron pan and if that would interfere with t3 absorption? > > Hi everyone, > > I've been lining up me and my daughters tests after posting our Thyroid panels and our first results are back. > > Can you tell me what you recommend? > > Ferritin: 17 ng/ml (both of us) Range: 13-150 > > UIBC: 241 ug/dl (daughter,16yr) Range: 150-375 > 182 ug/dl (me) > > Obviously we need help here. What is recommended for iron? Anybody else resorted to using a cast iron pan as well??? > > Jeez, I can't believe I've never had this addressed or tested before now! > > Thanks, > Mandy >
Guest guest
Some iron definitely comes off cast iron pans into the food. I don't know if it's enough to affect T3 absorption. Taking the T3 sublingually, if possible, would bypass this potential problem. > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > I've been lining up me and my daughters tests after posting our Thyroid panels and our first results are back. > > > > Can you tell me what you recommend? > > > > Ferritin: 17 ng/ml (both of us) Range: 13-150 > > > > UIBC: 241 ug/dl (daughter,16yr) Range: 150-375 > > 182 ug/dl (me) > > > > Obviously we need help here. Guest guest
I was using a cast iron pan for a while - it began to upset my stomach. I found this site recently which talks about the importance of stomach acidity and using manganese to bring iron levels up: http://www.acu-cell.com/femn.html The page about tin is pretty interesting too - he says that tin supports the adrenals. Guest guest
Hypo people are prone to low stomach acidity; I believe that's why so many here are low in both iron and B12. Some on this group have improved their digestion (and nutrient absorption) by taking Betaine HCL. Here's a post from Moderator on this: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/42967 I found the Betaine HCL too rough on my stomach and take OTC papaya enzymes to assist digestion/absorption. > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > I've been lining up me and my daughters tests after posting our Thyroid panels and our first results are back. > > > > > > > > Can you tell me what you recommend? > > > > > > > > Ferritin: 17 ng/ml (both of us) Range: 13-150 > > > > > > > > UIBC: 241 ug/dl (daughter,16yr) Range: 150-375 > > > > 182 ug/dl (me) > > > > > > > > Obviously we need help here.
