Guest guest
Your itching is because you are a new user! You need to dilute the magnesium oil, and use it a little less frequent to begin with. I have read that some people dilute the oil with water in a spray bottle. I just slap a little water on my skin before I spray the oil. Also, don't use it on your more delicate areas to begin with, like stomach, inner thighs, etc. Choose instead areas that are exposed to sun and air, and a little tougher. The stinging will go away with use. I've been using it about 4x a day for the last week, and half of this time I've had to take benadryl for the itching. (The itching for me is THAT BAD) ...I don't want to take benadryl, and I don't know what else to do,.... benadryl is pretty heavy for me, it makes me feel wasted.... > > suggestions? Guest guest
Thanks Ann, It's not just stinging though, it's ALSO itching. The stinging is certainly irritating, but the itching is a whole other thing that is almost intolerable, like having 1200 mosquito bites all over. I'm using it on my legs or arms. thanks for the insight though... i will try and see how it goes with water before. i am using gel by the way, not oil, so i am not sure how i can dilute that? thanks lisa > > > > Hi Lethal Lee, > > > > Per your suggestion I got the Ancient Minerals magnesium gel for my twitching issue (which I've found a good description to be internal shivers that lead to a need to twitch) > > > > I cannot take the itching from this gel! Guest guest
Hi , I've never used the Gel but did have some stinging initially when using the Mag Oil. Overcame by diluting with distilled water started with only 25% Mag Oil & gradually got to 100%. However don't know how you would do that with a Gel. I looked up the ingredients http://www.ancient-minerals.com/#gel_plus NGREDIENTS: Purified water, Genuine Zechstein™ magnesium chloride (and other naturally occurring trace minerals), hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, certified organic ACTIValoe®, xanthan gum Note the statement.... " Please note that this magnesium gel is unique in that is not designed to be fully absorbed into the skin. Consult our magnesium gel application guide for details on product usage " Is it possible you are reacting to the Aloe Vera or the other ingredients? Have you tried Aloe Vera Gel before & were you OK with it? Possibly you could buy some plain Aloe Vera & mix it with some of the Meg Gel to dilute it? Or maybe buy the Ancient Minerals Mag Oil in spray bottle & try that diluted with some Distilled Water if necessary. Perhaps once you get used to the Mag Oil & build to 100% strength you may be able to tolerate the Gel better too? Then it wouldn't be wasted? Guest guest
L.Lee, I was wondering the same thing...it this a reaction to the Magnesium or to the ingredients that make it " Gel " ? I've had better results, generally, with " non-gel " form products, I think the gelling ingredients probably don't agree with me. > > > > > > > > Hi Lethal Lee, > > > > > > > > Per your suggestion I got the Ancient Minerals magnesium gel for my twitching issue (which I've found a good description to be internal shivers that lead to a need to twitch) > > > > > > > > I cannot take the itching from this gel! Guest guest
Hi , I find the oil (haven't tried the gel) pretty itchy as well so I switched over to using it in a foot bath for 20 minutes every few days. i would imagine you could disolve the gel in the water. You have to use a larger qty of oil for the foot baths, but you sound really uncomfortable so it might be worth trying? > > > > > > Hi Lethal Lee, > > > > > > Per your suggestion I got the Ancient Minerals magnesium gel for my twitching issue (which I've found a good description to be internal shivers that lead to a need to twitch) > > > > > > I cannot take the itching from this gel! Guest guest
Not sure if anyone listens to the Paleolithic Solution podcast, but Robb Wolf has a pretty amazing grasp of all things physiological and he is skeptical at best about whether magnesium can be absorbed through the skin this way. He is a big proponent of Natural Calm (oral) and asked the makers for pharmacokinetic data on the gel product and got no response. So, if you want to be sure of getting your magnesium, the Natural Calm may be a better option (no, I'm not affiliated and in fact have just been taking Costco mag supplements). Would love it if a gel worked, though - so sick of all the supps I have to take. Guest guest
I have been using Magnesium oil for 5 weeks and next week I get it tested. I will be real interested to see if it has made a difference. What IS Natural Calm? I cannot handle even 200 mg of mag. pills which is why I went to the oil...I hope it makes a difference because I was below range.VeniziaSubject: Re: Lethal Lee! magnesium gel ....To: RT3_T3 Date: Thursday, August 26, 2010, 7:56 PM Not sure if anyone listens to the Paleolithic Solution podcast, but Robb Wolf has a pretty amazing grasp of all things physiological and he is skeptical at best about whether magnesium can be absorbed through the skin this way. Guest guest
The jury is still out for me on the magnesium oil, but I am trying it right now. I do feel better when I use it. Gillam's Natural Calm is by the same maker of Natural Vitality(magnesium and calcium supplement). I used to subscribe to Consumer Lab https://www.consumerlab.com/index.asp and last year Natural Vitality was rated as having a high level of contaminants in it. They may have cleaned it up now and it may have been from the calcium in the supplement and not the magnesium, but thought I would pass that along just in case. Guest guest
I will be doing labs in a couple months to also determine whether it's affecting. But they did go up a tiny bit after using it only a few weeks. That's not enough of a test, though. I DO think it works, though. People have used epsom salts for ages so it must get through the skin to relieve whatever they are soaking their body part for. Also, many people can get rid of a headache by rubbing magnesium gel on their back of neck, etc. I never understood while Natural Calm is any better than other magnesium citrate, which is all it is. It doesn't claim to have a smaller molecular weight or something that any other magnesium citrate out there. Do yu have any info on that per chance? I have always thought the best absorbed magnesium is Albion's patented magnesium glycinate. It IS molecularly bound to glycine and small enough to pass through the intestinal wall without having to ionize and attach to an amino acid carrier. Although Margery said even that did not get her magnesium levels up. IVs work, too, if one can get them, or magnesium injections. There is a doc here who does them for about $35 a pop but they hurt like HECK!!
