What were you on before?? unless it was a lot of NT that's far too high a starting dose Have a read of this http://thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com For lots of good information of adrenal issues http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ and the adrenal group on http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
30 in the morning and 5 mid day is puzzling dosing. Moderator Nick and I dose 5 times a day; Moderator Val 4 times a day. This well-distributed dosing keeps a steadier level of T3 in the body and is also easier on the adrenals. Here's Nick's dosing schedule: " My dosing times are:- 7am 10am 1pm 4pm Bed time as I put the light out " From his web page: http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm There is more excellent info on that web page about recommended starting dosages, too. > > What are some sources for T3? > > I've just started Cytomel 30mg in the morning and 5 mg mid-day. > I've been on edge all day with it and I also cut the dose in half. > Well this get better? I have tried just about everything for my hypo. I'm running out of options here. > Doc did tell me to get some adrenal supplements. Guest guest
You certainly will have ups and downs with that dosing. I've followed Nick's dosing schedule and it avoids those ups and downs. You'd said " cytomel " . I just want to double check that it's not a sustained-release (SR) T3. The SR dosing/timing is very different and I'm not familiar with it. With regular cytomel, I have much better results on the 5-a-day dosing. You can check your adrenal status by graphing your body's temperature stability; here's the link to Nick's web page discussing adrenals: http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/adrenals.htm There is lots more adrenal-specific info at the adrenals group. I think they are on a break now but will be re-opening soon. Guest guest
Yes its cytomel How do you feel if you miss a dose? I'm new to this i've tried the T4 and T3 together. Nature gave me indigestion. Doc says i'm allergic to the pig they use.. Of course i've done the synthyroid too. It gave me really bad muscle pains. Thanks for you helpCindyTo: RT3_T3 Sent: Tue, August 3, 2010 6:53:15 PMSubject: Re: What are the sources for T3 You certainly will have ups and downs with that dosing. Guest guest
Many people have said that a few hours after a missed dose, tiredness will set in. Then the light bulb comes on, they check the pill bottle, and...yup, missed one all right. Moderator Nick counts out his daily doses into a pill bottle, so he can see at a glance if he's missed one. I do the same thing, in a little " Altoids " tin, it's very handy. When I miss a dose, I try to fit the rest of my doses into the day, just spaced a little closer together, maybe 3 hours apart instead of 4 hours apart. Moderator Val has tried the T4 and T3 together and has had much better results with T3-only. She's was also on the synthroid, it was horrible for her. I had great results at first with Natural Thyroid (it was the " old " Armour). Then it completely stopped working and actually made me worse. I didn't realize at the time this was because of RT3 building up. > > > > > > What are some sources for T3? > > > > > > I've just started Cytomel 30mg in the morning and 5 mg mid-day. > > > I've been on edge all day with it and I also cut the dose in half. > > > Well this get better? Guest guest
Margery, I am just wondering how long you guys have been on t3 only? I thought you take it for a few months and then switch back to NTH, when RT3 has resolved. > > > > > > > > What are some sources for T3? > > > > > > > > I've just started Cytomel 30mg in the morning and 5 mg mid-day. > > > > I've been on edge all day with it and I also cut the dose in half. > > > > Well this get better? Guest guest
Moderator Val is better qualified than I am to interpret these iron labs. I can say that we have recently begun recommending a full iron panel in addition to the ferritin test, because ferritin tests can come back falsely elevated due to inflammation or other causes. The most current recommendation on iron panel results is a % saturation of 35-45. > > > > > > > > What are some sources for T3? > > > > > > > > I've just started Cytomel 30mg in the morning and 5 mg mid-day. > > > > I've been on edge all day with it and I also cut the dose in half. > > > > Well this get better?
