Guest guest
I have possibly found out why i have been so difficult to treat and get well. This week i will be having a blood test for lead levels and an RT3 test for the first time. I have been on thyroid hormones since 04/08 and have gotten better in that time, but it doesnt usually last, so i have tried different therapies. eventually i decline again and end up hypo - although not as bad as i was when not taking thyroid replacement. i have also experienced the full effect of T3 getting into the cells and it is great, but it doesnt last that long. Does anyone have any experience of heavy metal toxicity. My hair analysis is showing i have very high levels of lead in my system. normal levels are 1.4mg/kg and i have 17.3mg/kg. i have no idea why i should have such high lead levels, but apparently it can interfere with the thyroid. any info will be appreciated on how i can get rid of the lead. i understand there is a chelation process you go through. Guest guest
I have RT3 and adrenal fatigue. My root cause is amalgan illness - aka mercury. My hair test also revealed high lead and arsenic. I am doing the Cutler protocol. http://onibasu.com/wiki/Cutler_protocol http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ANDY_INDEX.html For lead I use DMSA which you can get from VRP.com. For mercury I use ALA. I am on the frequent-dose-chelation yahoo group if you want to know more about it. This is off-topic for this group. - > > I have possibly found out why i have been so difficult to treat and get well. Guest guest
> i have also experienced the full effect of T3 getting into the cells and it is great, but it doesnt last that long. The most common reasons for T3 appearing to have stopped working are: adrenal issues and insufficient iron. Occasionally, someone finds they have stayed on too low a T3 dose. Many here have gotten to optimal T3 levels and stayed there; with ongoing good results. They may need to: graph temperatures to: gain info on whether adrenal issues need addressing get iron tested (ferritin 70-90, % saturation 35-45) to: see if iron is adequate check pulse, temps & FT3 to determine: if it's time to increase dose If heavy metals were blocking thyroid function, it does not seem to me you'd have this on-and-off thyroid success...the presence of heavy metals would not be varying that much. It sounds more like something that we know DOES vary, such cortisol going too high or low; or repeatedly building up iron to adequate levels, then running low on it again. There is ongoing debate about heavy metals, if I remember correctly Moderator 's view is that hypo people tend to accumulate them, correctly treated UN-hypo people tend to excrete them properly. Chelation is very, very hard on adrenals.
