Guest guest
Hi Faith... Do not suddenly stop your cytomel if you are not also taking a T4 medication. If you are taking T3 (cytomel) only then your body doesn't have any storage of the thyroid hormones and you could conceiveably go into what is called a myxedema coma if you don't make any of your own T4 and have been on t3 only for awhile. I know Val and Nick will jump in here and do a better job with replying to you but sometimes on the weekend people are off line. did you start on a lower dose of cytomel than the 75 mcg? how long ago? did you have your adrenals checked before you started? have you read everything at Nick's website? here is the link: http://thyroid-rt3.com/ The side effects you listed are mostly those that would occur if your dose was too high. So you can safely reduce your dose. How are you dividing that 75 mcg up during the day? If you started on cytomel because you have an RT3 issue then what you are doing if the most effective way to clear out the excess RT3. Why not try dropping your dose down a bit to see if that helps. You need to take your temps and pulse several times a day at rest to guage how much T3 you need. best of luck, Sharon Remember! Dolls are people, too....have you hugged your dolls today? Over that time I have felt increasingly worse. I looked up the side effects of this drug and have many of them. Increase in BPincreased heartrateheavy heart beatsanxietynervousnessinsomniaabdominal crampsfluid retention - my feet have been puffy off and onI woke up in the night very sweaty. Heart rate up when I got up. Face was flushed. One thing I have that isn't mentioned is bloating and a feeling of tightness across the belly area, like a pulling which causes anxiety.Should I start reducing my amount slowly or can you just stop taking it?Please let me know what to do. Guest guest
I have been on 75mcg's for two weeks. I started at a low dose back on the 23rd of June. I do not take any t4 meds. I take 30 - 35 mg of HC a day. I do have a Rt3 issue. My pulse goes up to over 100 when I am up and about. I get a heavy heart beat troughout my body. At rest my pulse can be upper 80's or even upper 90's. Sometimes it is better. Seems to go up after I eat. How much can I reduce it each day till some of the symptoms leave? I have read some of Nicks pages, but will go and read them again. Guest guest
The good thing about T3 only is that you can raise and lower the dose easily. I would suggest only lowering it by 5 mcg once a day for 4 days. Then you could lower another 5 mcg for another 4 days. If you are dividing up your dose my doctor lowered one of the doses first and then another. See how you feel then and get tested. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
the high pulse would say to me that the dose is too high. You can drop back quite a bit...try dropping back 12.50 and then another 6.25 more if you still have a high pulse. Yes, go read EVERYTHING on nick's site. best wishes, Sharon Remember! Guest guest
Yesterday I backed down from 75mcg to 62.5. Today I was planning to do the same. Just before lunch I started to feel funny in the stomach, then my hb increased and I got pressure in my headd. I was reaally feeling weird. I checked the pulse and it was 100. It had been 88 a half hour before that. another member, Roni, suggested I just decrease by just 5mcg, which seems small to me. But I am wondering if I cut it back to quickly. Do you think this is possible, and if one would have that kind of reaction that I had. thank you faith > > > > > > From: Faith > > Subject: Side Effects of Cytomel > > To: RT3_T3 > > Date: Sunday, August 22, 2010, 8:10 AM > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > I am taking 75 mcg of cytomel for two weeks now. Guest guest
That dosen't make a lot of sense to me. If your heart rate/pulse is going up after your dose too high it would seem you are still taking too much. JMHO Sharon Remember! Dolls are people, too....have you hugged your dolls today? Guest guest
I have found with me that going up or down too quickly produced cardiovascular reactions, blood pressure, pulse, even afib. Everyone is different. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge!
