Guest guest
Hi Nick... thank you for your response...yesterday after reading some more about dosing i decided to break my dosage up into 4 x a day (rather than just cutting back to 25 m (from 50) i seemed to be feeling somewhat better after doing that... i'm not sure how i am ever going to get to the 75 to 100 mcg needed to achieve rt3 clearance (at least under doctor supervision) when i called her about my symptoms returning with a vengeance the second week after being on 25 mg, it was i who asked about the increased dosage, and she agreed to raise me to 50 (but as i am finding out, too much too quickly) i had the saliva cortisol test and according to that test my adrenals were ok (done in june)...i've questioned those results as i also have the adrenal fatigue symptoms....and i did the 'flashlight' test on my pupils and they showed adrenal fatigue i started taking siberian ginseng (per my doc's rec) to help with fatigue but thus far (after about a week) i don't see any real change btw, my pulse was back in the mid 70's when i got up this morning, i'm assuming that perhaps spreading out the dosage was the reason? temp is a tiny bit better (97.4) considering the conflicting data on the adrenals would you suggest that i consider taking a nonprescription adrenal support? (as i'm not convinced my doc will prescribe HC considering the test results) thanks again, nick...i don't know what i would do without val's yahoo group > > >my doctor recently increased my cytomel dosage from 25 mcg to 50 mcg.. > > > >i take one 25mcg in the a.m. and the second around noon > > Too big a jump and too much at a time > > Have a read of here > > http://thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm > > > >i've noticed that my pulse rate is now getting uncomfortably high for me, resting rate is well above 80 and yesterday after one hour of exercise it took over 2 hours for the resting rate to go below 100 > > > The big jump is upsetting your adrenals > > >symptomatically, i feel worse...fatigue is extreme, after 'forcing' myself to exercise (treadmill) yesterday, i was totally exhausted the remainder of the day...morning temps are still hovering in the low 97's (some high 96's) 'brain fog' is intensifying, difficulty with sleep > > Adrenal stress due to poor T3 dose timing and adjustment > > > >could it be that increasing from 25 to 50 has resulted in the elevated heart rate, and if so, should i try to spread the dosage out more throughout the day or consider going back to 25? val had written that most patients need 75 to 100 mcg to achieve Rt3 clearance in a previous message posted originally about my cytomel dosing > > Have a read of the dosing link, it takes time to get to that sort of > dose and lots of small steps > > > >any advice or comments are greatly appreciated > > Good luck, let us know how it goes. > > Have you had adrenal tests? > > Nick > > -- > > for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to > > www.thyroid-rt3.com > > For lots of good information of adrenal issues > > http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ > > and the adrenal group on > > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ >
Guest guest
Please allow me to add my experience to this. We are all different. I am very sensitive to everything, and had to start T3 at 10 mcg and very slowly titrate up as my body told me it needed more. Val said most patients, and that's correct, but some of us don't get all the way up there, and titrating to your symptoms instead of heading for a specific number might be a safer way to go. <>Roni Immortality exists! Guest guest
thank you, Roni... sometimes i feel confused and at a loss...at least i have a doctor who is willing to use T3 only, and was willing to increase my dosage when i wasn't responding symptomatically....unfortunately, she probably doesn't understand the nuances of titrating this drug so incrementally > > > > >my doctor recently increased my cytomel dosage from 25 mcg to 50 mcg.. > > > > > >i take one 25mcg in the a.m. and the second around noon > > > > Too big a jump and too much at a time > > > > Have a read of here > > > > http://thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm > > > > > >i've noticed that my pulse rate is now getting uncomfortably high for me, resting rate is well above 80 and yesterday after one hour of exercise it took over 2 hours for the resting rate to go below 100 > > > > > The big jump is upsetting your adrenals > > > > >symptomatically, i feel worse...fatigue is extreme, after 'forcing' myself to exercise (treadmill) yesterday, i was totally exhausted the remainder of the day...morning temps are still hovering in the low 97's (some high 96's) 'brain fog' is intensifying, difficulty with sleep > > > > Adrenal stress due to poor T3 dose timing and adjustment > > > > > >could it be that increasing from 25 to 50 has resulted in the elevated heart rate, and if so, should i try to spread the dosage out more throughout the day or consider going back to 25? val had written that   most patients need 75 to 100 mcg to achieve Rt3 clearance in a previous message posted originally about my cytomel dosing > > > > Have a read of the dosing link, it takes time to get to that sort of > > dose and lots of small steps > > > > > >any advice or comments are greatly appreciated > > > > Good luck, let us know how it goes. > > > > Have you had adrenal tests? > > > > Nick > > > > -- > > > > for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to > > > > www.thyroid-rt3.com > > > > For lots of good information of adrenal issues > > > > http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ > > > > and the adrenal group on > > > > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > We are not medical professionals here, just patients sharing our experiences. Guest guest
ok, i think it's beginning to make sense...in your first message you said it was too much too fast....is there a titration 'model' that one should follow? iow, next week as my T4 continues to decay, i need to increase my dosage, so how much is an appropriate amount? right now, i'm still taking the 50mcg total, (for a week now) and my but i have divided into 4 dosages, 2 in the a.m, and 2 in the afternoon... nick, i don't have my saliva test results with me, but i can get them from my doctor's office, probably on monday as it is after office hours now....as soon as i have them, i'll post a message here... thanks again > > >i'm not sure how i am ever going to get to the 75 to 100 mcg needed to achieve rt3 clearance (at least under doctor supervision) when i called her about my symptoms returning with a vengeance the second week after being on 25 mg, it was i who asked about the increased dosage, and she agreed to raise me to 50 (but as i am finding out, too much too quickly) > > Once you are on 50 and feeling OK, and it seems you are pretty well > there, you will find you need more in a week or so, Your Thyroid is > not producing much and the T4 levels in your body are slowly decaying, > they drop to half roughly once every 2 weeks and hence take many weeks > to get to nothing. Guest guest
thanks again.... i've read your dosing page and the only issue i have is getting my 6.25 amount (my cytomel would break into small pieces once i cut it in half)...however, i recently received my cynomel and i found i could use a razor (like the kind that come with scrapers) to divide it into 4ths... the other thing is i've decided to create a calendar schedule, and i've put alarms on my cell phone for the 10 a.m, 1 pm and 4 pm dosages (only 3 alarms available) the dosing on this is amazingly complex and for someone with serious 'brain fog' issues, it has become obvious that i will need a written dosage plan to keep track....i've set my next increase for august 17...(6.25)...the only question still not resolved (hopefully the last!) is WHEN do i add the additional 6.25 dosage increase? i'm assuming it would be best to take it with my first dose in the a.m., but in doing so, eventually i would end up with a large morning dosage compared to the 12.5 amounts i'm currently taking throughout the day...so my next assumption would be that the next titration (after the next a.m. increase) would be at the 10 a.m. dose? and then increase incrementally until all dosages are equal....does that sound right? > > >ok, i think it's beginning to make sense...in your first message you said it was too much too fast....is there a titration 'model' that one should follow? iow, next week as my T4 continues to decay, i need to increase my dosage, so how much is an appropriate amount? right now, i'm still taking the 50mcg total, (for a week now) and my but i have divided into 4 dosages, 2 in the a.m, and 2 in the afternoon... > > Yes, this page will give you a lot of guidance > > http://thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm > > It's worth reading the rest of the site as well, it will answer > questions you don't know you have yet > > Nick > > -- > > for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to > > www.thyroid-rt3.com > > For lots of good information of adrenal issues > > http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ > > and the adrenal group on > > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ >
