Guest guest
That's greeeeaaat. How will it affect them? Will it affect the rest of the metabolic panel, the cbc with differential, minerals (rbc magnesium, iron, etc), vitamins (rbc folate, b12, etc), thyroid (had not taken t3, just the cortef and florinef). My doc had checked non fasting so here I thought I was doing well only having a couple of nuts to take adrenal meds Do I need to do everything over? > > > > >>> Sodium 137 (135-145) > > > > >>> Potassium 3.7 (3.5-5.2) > > > > >>> Chloride 103 (97-108) > > > > >>> Carbon Dioxide 23 (20-32) > > > > >>> > > > > >>> TIBC 280 (250-450) > > > > >>> UIBC 185 (150-375) > > > > >>> Iron Serum 95 (35-155) > > > > >>> Iron Sat 34 (15-55) > > > > >>> > > > > >>> Currently taking 56.25 Cynomel, 30 HC, Blue Bonnet Iron, Mag oil, Celtic Sea Salt > > > > >>> > > > > >>> How much iron should I continue to take? Guest guest
I'm sorry, I don't know. Not only will the tests be affected, but by how much? Technically a handful of pecans is NON-fasting, but it has to be on a different scale than having had a stack of pancakes. Moderator would know more about this than I do, I rarely suggest this but perhaps you could try bumping the question to her? If you have to have tests re-done, perhaps only SOME of them need be re-done? I understood that we were not supposed to take HC before thyroid tests, or florinef before electrolyte tests. I go to the lab 1st thing in A.M. completely empty (and, OK, a little cranky) and bring a snack (like the pecans) and my meds to have right after the blood is drawn. > > > > > >>> Sodium 137 (135-145) > > > > > >>> Potassium 3.7 (3.5-5.2) > > > > > >>> Chloride 103 (97-108) > > > > > >>> Carbon Dioxide 23 (20-32) > > > > > >>> > > > > > >>> TIBC 280 (250-450) > > > > > >>> UIBC 185 (150-375) > > > > > >>> Iron Serum 95 (35-155) > > > > > >>> Iron Sat 34 (15-55) > > > > > >>> > > > > > >>> Currently taking 56.25 Cynomel, 30 HC, Blue Bonnet Iron, Mag oil, Celtic Sea Salt > > > > > >>> > > > > > >>> How much iron should I continue to take? Guest guest
I could probably go without the florinef to the lab, but I don't know if I could make it without cortef. I didn't know that would affect thyroid results! It was three non salted pecan halves - waaaah. Oh well, it's done. I guess I'll test again sooner then I thought. Thanks, > > > > > > >>> Sodium 137 (135-145) > > > > > > >>> Potassium 3.7 (3.5-5.2) > > > > > > >>> Chloride 103 (97-108) > > > > > > >>> Carbon Dioxide 23 (20-32) > > > > > > >>> > > > > > > >>> TIBC 280 (250-450) > > > > > > >>> UIBC 185 (150-375) > > > > > > >>> Iron Serum 95 (35-155) > > > > > > >>> Iron Sat 34 (15-55) > > > > > > >>> > > > > > > >>> Currently taking 56.25 Cynomel, 30 HC, Blue Bonnet Iron, Mag oil, Celtic Sea Salt > > > > > > >>> > > > > > > >>> How much iron should I continue to take? Guest guest
Fasting AND time of day affects MANY tests... -Lipids (Cholesterol) -Blood Sugars & Insulin -Sex Hormones -Cortisol & ACTH -Thyroid -Electrolytes -most Vits & Minerals (including Iron) You should also test BEFORE Meds & Supps. Florinef should definitely NOT take before testing electrolytes. HC will affect electrolytes but to a far LESS degree. As far as Adrenal meds what I do is take Florinef, salted water, Pred/HC and a nut/fruit bar with me to Lab. AS SOON AS BLOOD IS DRAWN and BEFORE DRIVING HOME I take my meds with Salted water & eat the nut/fruit bar. HOWEVER if you cannot tolerate waiting on HC to do an early am test then don't risk making yourself ill by NOT taking it. But wait on everything else. Note I do make sure to drink some water before the blood draw as otherwise is sometimes difficult to draw blood due to dehydration. I always test same time, fasting 10-12 hours, before meds/supps, same time since last dose of meds (~12 hours for most such as Thyroid, Sex Hormone HRT), and same lab. Always follow protocols for ceasing meds, supps, etc for specific times before testing. Testing with CONSISTENT protocols makes comparison of Labs over time much more valid & meaningful. Guest guest
Is there a file somewhere that lists the guidelines for getting labs done? Something that lists when you get a specific lab done you need to be fasting, or you need to skip HC etc..... > > > > > > > > >>> Sodium 137 (135-145) > > > > > > > > >>> Potassium 3.7 (3.5-5.2) > > > > > > > > >>> Chloride 103 (97-108) > > > > > > > > >>> Carbon Dioxide 23 (20-32) > > > > > > > > >>> > > > > > > > > >>> TIBC 280 (250-450) > > > > > > > > >>> UIBC 185 (150-375) > > > > > > > > >>> Iron Serum 95 (35-155) > > > > > > > > >>> Iron Sat 34 (15-55) > > > > > > > > >>> > > > > > > > > >>> Currently taking 56.25 Cynomel, 30 HC, Blue Bonnet Iron, Mag oil, Celtic Sea Salt > > > > > > > > >>> > > > > > > > > >>> How much iron should I continue to take?
