Guest guest
Foot and leg cramps can be fom lwo potassium, ;low sodium or low magnesium or high calcium. I woudl first get RBC levels of potassium and magnesium as they are more accurate thna serum levels, But an electroylte panel shoudl also be run. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ On and off I wak with cramps in my feet. Sometimes the cramps come during the day. Does anyone have this or know what is could come from? Being cold seems to make it worse. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
Just saw my cardio today. An afib episode started this morning and was still in progress when I got to his office. He did a cardiogram and it showed (again). When it started I started my medication for it, and had taken three doses and only needed one more. It stopped on my way home. It felt like someone flicked a lightswitch inside me, and it was gone. I asked him to run tests, the sheet says FT3, FT4 and RT3, Basic Metobolic Panel, Vitamin D, BNP. One of the things I asked for was an electrolyte panel. Do any of these have that in them? I don't know what BNP is. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
I asked the cardio today if I should take 10 meq potassium because of the cramping and I also have bad swelling in feet, ankles legs and torso. He said I could take it every couple of days, but didn't want me to take more than one pill a day. He also said to cut out salt. Both those things are opposite of what I've read on here. I did take my pressure today and it was high. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
My experience has been that it is lack of calcium, although a lack of magnesium can make calcium absorbtion difficult to the 2 go hand in hand. best wishes, Sharon Remember! Guest guest
And is this Cardio advising this wihtout seeing your labs? That was how they nearly killed me. While I had congestive heart failure NOT ONCE did they EVER test even a serum cortils or electrolyte panel. NOT ONCE in two years of seeing FOUR specialists. They put us all in a BOX thinkign we ALL eat too much salt and get plenty of potassium in foods, and the truth is many of us DON'T. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ I asked the cardio today if I should take 10 meq potassium because of the cramping and I also have bad swelling in feet, ankles legs and torso. Guest guest
Hi Roni, Just wanted to add my two cents. For me, it was leg cramps. My problem was varicose veins (guessing that is not your problem) I just wanted to give you a quick fix to alleviate the symptom. Use a blow dryer to heat up the contracted muscle. My cramps were gone within minutes every time. Pati > > On and off I wak with cramps in my feet. Sometimes the cramps come during the day. > Does anyone have this or know what is could come from? Guest guest
The dehydration is a possibility. My feet ankles and legs, as well as my torso have been swollen. I saw the cardio yesterday and asked if I should be drinking a lot of waster and he said absolutely not. I have an order form for testing and discovered one of the tests on it is for heart failure. I sure hope this swelling is not from that. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
I just read these two sites, and the metobolic panel is fine. He didn't tell me though that he was checking for heart failure. The swelling I have been experiencing must be the reason. He did say in answer to whether I should be taking 10 meq of potassium a day definitely not. I was supposed to go for the test today but screwed up and automatically took the T3 first thing. Then I had another afib attack later that morning, probably because of the lack of food. One of my triggers is not eating soon enough. I'm going for the blood draw tomorrow morning. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
That's what he said, but at the same time he did order the BN (I didn't even know what that was) and the metobolic panel, as well as the FT3, FT4 and RT3. What did they do for your congestive heart failure? I know what that is, and know someone who expired from it. I checked the meds they give for that, and I'm allergic to calcium channel blockers, I have asthma so I can't take beta blockers. I'm not sure about the ace inhibiters yet. I have to read that again. If I have it, I have so much work to do, make out my will, throw out things from closets that I haven't gotten to, mark anything that might be worth something for the kids to know what it is. All that should keep me pretty busy. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
THEY did nothign for it but try to treat symptomatically. I was on FOUR BP med, Atenolol, Traimterene HCTZ, Lisinopril and Cardif. They increased my SYncrap to 500mcg which was probably the CAUSE of my CHF. I was on a NO SALT diet, which I stuck to religiously until I got "the death sentence" I was also wearing prescription cpmpression panty hose and given Lasix for fluid retention. All this seriously destroyed my electrolyte balance. The HIGH T4 created so much RT3 I was in Myxedema Coma., THAT was what caused the CHF and the horrid fluid retention that caused it, I STILL get chest congestion very easily. I htink once those paths are opened unnaturally it can take years to close them again if they ever do. I say paths as serious fluid retention liek i had follows gravity. WHn I laid down it flowed to my chest, lungs and heart cavity. When I stood up my feet and legs swelled so bad it woudl ooze out the pores. But in the process it tears tissue and makes paths to travel in it;s destruction. I may always have chest congestion btu my heart ince enlarged, is now noirmal wiht normal funciotn and size, so it CAN be beated if you find ALL the causes and clear them out. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ That's what he said, but at the same time he did order the BN (I didn't even know what that was) and the metobolic panel, as well as the FT3, FT4 and RT3.
