Guest guest
Your TIBC and Ferritin show very lwo iron levels. Your Ft3/RT3 ratio is 9.68 and needs to be at least 20 for good health preferably higher. This si why you cannot get anywhere wiht T3., Your FT3 is also low esecially for someone on JUTS T3, I feel best with mine at 620 http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ Of course here are some lab results (these are a month aftter starting T3 (5/30/10, and had no change from labs previous to starting therapy) Ferritin:  30 ng/ml TIBC:     474 ug/dL TSH:     0.43 mIU/L FT4:       0.8 ng/dL FT3:       275 pg/dL RT3:      28.44 ng/dL Another note: I didn't start iron until a few weeks after starting T3. Started me on 25mg of Thorne's Iron Picolinate 3x's/day. I worked up to two 5mg liothyronine/ day after two weeks. When first went to 10mg, couldn't sleep, so went to 7.5mg. Then tried 10mg again a few days later. Which raised my normally 96.7 temp in the morning to about 97.3. About a week later, started feeling more exhausted than I did before taking the T3, and temp dropped again. Went to 12.5 mg/day for a week, noticed no change. Went to 15mg and have maintained that for about the past 2.5 months. Energy is okay, tired early evening, and past week havent been sleeping (could be changes going on in my personal life though). Also, hair fallout seems minimally less. The main thing bothering me though is that the unexplainable 10 pounds I gained a couple of years ago has not budged. The only way I lose a couple pounds is if I eat under 800 cals and exercise everyday. I was never like this before! I take betaine HCl, enzymes, eat a whole foods diet free of sugar, and other anti thyroid foods. Do cardio 5 days a week and weight training. Have been doing this strictly ever since I gained the weight 2 years ago. Sorry such a long message! I appreciate any feedback! Hello! I have been on liothyronine (generic cytomel) for about 5months now, and have increased my dose to the highest possible without disturbing sleep and fast heart beat. (Additionally, I have been taking iron, as I had low iron). I gained 10 pounds out of nowhere, 3 years ago, and have other hyposymptoms (finally had a doc that checked ALL thyroid and labs said I had high RT3 so that's why I began the liothyronine) Anyhow, I've always eaten a diet free of refined sugars, gluten free, dairy free, exercise everyday and eat appropriate calories. Despite this I gained 10 pounds, and there is nothing I can do to lose weight, because I already do it all! I was hoping the liothyronine would help but just hasn't. Anyone else have feedback, or experience this?
Guest guest
I see, so when you say my FT3 is low for someone on just T3...does that mean that I should be on T4 as well? Or you feel that if I continue working on my iron levels that my FT3/RT3 ratio will improve? Thanks again for your insight!! Hello! Guest guest
No we donot want to take ANY T4 when trying to clear RT3, but we DO need over range FT3 to compensate for the lack of T4. http://www.nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://www.health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.faqhelp.webs.com/ http://www.health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ I see, so when you say my FT3 is low for someone on just T3...does that mean that I should be on T4 as well? Guest guest
I guess what I'm trying to understand is, by getting iron levels up, this will help with all of this?
