Guest guest
Are you on SR t3? If so, your 162 is more like 80 mcg of cymomel and people here go anywhere from 75 to 125 on cyncomel. I know my 120 SR t3 equates to about 43.75 cynomel. How many weeks have you been on t3? Often, people have to go on a high dose until their receptors clear, but do be careful because once they clear, you may go hyper and then you need to reduce the dose and gradually work up until you find your " sweet spot. Guest guest
Moderator Nick's website has info on this, here's a link: how much T3 do I need? http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm main page http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ > > I know Dr. recommends not going above 180. Guest guest
Thanks, I forgot about that - read it ages ago. > > > > I know Dr. recommends not going above 180. Guest guest
Nope, I'm on cynomel. I've posted about this before, but I seem to be a rapid adapter and I have to increase my dose daily or I get terrible headaches. So, this is after a few weeks, I guess. Regarding clearing, I thought the idea was that we could wean off after the clearance. No? Thanks, Sydney > > > > I know Dr. recommends not going above 180. Guest guest
Yes, some people are rapid adapters, as you call it. But it takes 12 weeks to clear, so what very well could (and likely will) happen is that dose is going to be way too high when you do clear and you'll go hyper. At that point, you'll cut your dose big time, maybe in half even, and then keep working up to find your sweet spot. 's protocol is the one where people wean off their t3 and allegedly are cured. No one here is doing 's protocol because I don't think anyone on this list has ever been able to wean off. Val says she's never seen it, at least not with people by the time they are searching on these boards. In theory, if you can fix whatever is causing the rt3 problem in the first place, then you could wean off. I do one person who did 's and recovered, but they'd had a severe auto accident injury, etc., which puts any normal person into rt3 mode, so they did the ramp up and then ramp off and recovered. But I think that most people on here have had the rt3 problem for so long that they can't seem to get out of rt3 mode and have to stay on t3 forever. My husband was starting to develop a rt3 issue BUT he feels fine. I only caught it because of routine labwork I had him go get. His cortisol is high and he is now on DHEA and adaptogens. So for him, we may have caught it early enough. Granted, there is nothing to stop you from trying to wean off t3 after you clear and see if you can convert normally afterward on your own. If that happens, please be sure to let us know! That would be great. Kathleen > > > > > > I know Dr. recommends not going above 180. I'm at 162 and still don't have my temps up.
