Guest guest
Hi Kem: I recovered from a serious bladder condition several years ago, have done a lot of research on this topic and ran a support group for a couple years afterward. I hope this information helps you: If you want to avoid risks with fluro based antiobiotics like Cipro, you can call your doctor and ask for a copy of your urine culture results. When they culture urine for a bacterial infection, they test for susceptibility or resistance to several antibiotics at the same time. Then they prescribe based on what antibiotics the bacteria were susceptible to the most. So you can ask for an alternate prescription. If your organism is susceptible to Macrobid I would recommend it because it is an antibiotic that stays in the urinary tract almost exclusively (ie not blood), has been used since the 50's withOUT showing any signs of having produced bacterial resistance and is very low on allergenicity and side effects. Very safe and effective, in short. Hope this helps, Terri > > > > > > Over the last couple of days I've been feeling a UTI (bladder > > infection) coming on and had been drinking gallons of cranberry juice. > > It seemed to really help at first, this morning I felt good but by > > noon I could tell I was in big trouble.
