Guest guest
What I would do first is get a full iron panel. I am seeing a real pattern in the worst adrnla people alos having low iron, so I believe one causes the other. If his iron is good thne T3 onyl would b e my suggestion but not until heis adrneals are better stabilized. I ahve not seen under 20mg HC be helpful, in dfact it ofgten does mroe harm than good. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ > Hi! I have posted before for myself, but I had a question about my son's labs. He is 12 years old and was diagnosed 3 years ago with adrenal fatigue (confirmed by extremely low evening blood work). He has been taking 10 mg hydrocortisone for about 3 years. He has worsening symptoms that I relate to being undertreated with hc and possible hypothyroid. He has gained over 50 pounds in the last couple of years alone and he is sooo sensitive to hot weather. Plus tired all the time and got sick a lot this past winter, even with the hc. > > June 16, 8am fasting: > > free t3 4.2 (2.0-4.4) > (I've seen elsewhere, this range may be too low for someone his age) > free t4 1.35 (0.8-1.80) > reverse t3 215 (90-350) > > ratio t3/rt3 0.0195 > > I have been measuring his temps and they are pretty much 98.6 F consistently. > > If we decide on thyroid for him, does he have too much reverse t3 to begin with armour? Should we start with t3 thyroid first to clear out some of the reverse t3? Can someone be hypo, need thyroid, and still have good temps? > > Any advice is much appreciated! > Thanks so much, > Kathy > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > We are not medical professionals here, just patients sharing our experiences. Guest guest
Here are the iron tests we have: rbc 5.63H 3.7-5.3 hgb 15.7 12-16 hct 45.8H 34-44 mcv 81.3 78-98 mch 27.9 27-34 Can you tell anything from that? Should I get ferritin done to get a complete picture? I thought the same thing about the adrenals. He was fine on the 10mg hc in the beginning, but over time I suspected he was under treated but his doc at the time wouldn't increase the hc. He is now seeing my doc who ordered these tests and can help us. I just needed some more info before I see him because he is not used to treating children. Thanks so much, this site has been so valuable! Kathy
