Guest guest
By these labs you are overmedicated. I would reduce to 3 grains a day for a month and retest the FT3 and RT3 to see if it looks better. > > I'm trying to decide if I have a RT3 problem. My labs: > FT3 7 (2-4.4 pg/mL) > RT3 342 (90-350 pg/mL) > FT4 1.63 (.82-1.77 ng/dL) > My ferritin is good (I'm supplementing iron). I think adrenals are ok (I've been off HC for several yrs. Still take support.) > I'm taking 4.75 gr Thyroid-S a day. Many of my hypo symptoms have gotten better over the last few years. My hair isn't falling out, I don't have cold hands and feet, I've lost 25 lbs, and I have more energy than before. But I still have lots of mucin (thick skin) especially around knees, upper arms, and lower legs. I'm not sure what my temperature is doing, because I don't have a reliable thermometer. > According to my ratio of FT3/RT3, I don't have a RT3 problem. But Val has said a FT4 over 1.4 indicates a problem. > Thanks for any help. > Beth >

But Val has said a FT4 over 1.4 indicates a problem. you will do better on T3 only. Your ratio is ok but only because your FT3 is so far over range. Your RT3 is nearly at the top of the range, that indicates a problem, as you have spotted your FT4 is high as well. You are getting enough T3 into the system by taking a lot of natural BUT this has taken T4 levels to the point where more and more reverse T3 will be produced and you will be getting more resistance building up and have to take more each year to stay put. Going T3 only will stop that from happening. Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com For lots of good information of adrenal issues http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ and the adrenal group on http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
