I'm not a mod but I do know I had back pain before I went on the T3 only. It was

always in the same spot, along the bra line, where the adrenals are.....now on

T3, pain is gone. All the best,

had mold in my house, that my symptoms weren't related to my thyroid. I finally

went to an emergency care clinic in January 2010 and tested at TSH 25. I found

an endo who proscribed Synthroid for me again and said he would work with me

until my levels were where I wanted. He increased my Synthroid to 175 mcg from

150 mcg until my TSH was at 1.5 but then said I was normal and even though I was

still very stressed and tired (although not feeling crazy like on the generic

naturethroid) would not look at any other medications or tests. He said he

doesn't believe in adrenal fatigue. That was May. I've gained twenty pounds

since then and just had my tests done through my new family practice doctor and

came back with these results: TSH 3.690, Free T3 87 and Thyroxine Free 1.32.

Could you please help me interpret these results and tell me what tests I should

have ordered and what to look for?

Hi Terry,

I am sorry you feel so awful. Glad you have someone who will try T3. That and

iron cleared up my shortness of breath. Have you had an RT3 test run? That might

clarify things for sure. Any doctor you have now who is willing to give you T3

is probably more help than any endo would be.

you've had some good advice already, things to do are to get a

complete iron panel done and post the results here, without the

correct iron levels thyroid treatment won't work.

They have been keeping your TSH too high, it needs to be around the 1

mark or less on T4. With the amount of T4 you have been having it

looks like you may well have resistance to thyroid hormone caused by a

build up of RT3.

The tests for this are FT3 and RT3, post the results here with the

ranges and someone will interpret them for you

Margery has already posted the details of where to get the saliva

cortisol test done, again post the results here or in the adrenal list

and someone will help you interpret them
