Guest guest
It is remarkable you mention sleeping better after an iron IV - the exact same thing happens to me. I could never figure out exactly why an iron IV would affect sleep - improved hemoglobin, improved red cell formation, that is all clear - but sleep?! Still, they do help my sleep, after a Venofer IV I have less frequent waking and much less of that unrefreshing tossing-and-turning kind of sleep. > > > > > > > > > > Hi Val, > > > > > > > > > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. At that time, I had just gotten 2 addl Iron IV's & my then labs showed T3 was pooling. I had gotten up to 70 mcg of Cytomel & you had advised I scale bk down to 60 mcg which I did. After my 2nd Iron IV, I began 5 mcg weekly raises & was doing real fine up until last Sunday. By then I was up to 90 mcg of Cytomel & could feel the pooling begin again. Temps were 98.0 to 98.4 & pulse was anywear from high 70's to 100. > > > > > > > > > > I dropped back down to 60 mcg of the T3. Guest guest
Exactly! I slept like a stone for parts of last nite. Was delicious! Hadn't slept like that in several wks. No iron pill even comes close to restoring what is needed. I have also noticed how much lighter my undereye circles look. = ) It is nice. I am glad. No more looking like Garfield! LOL. Actually got some house cleaning accomplished today. Feel a nice warmth & not jumpy, but a smooth calm. I started taking my oral iron liquid today as well. Maybe it will help prolong this feeling. But it tastes so disgusting! C. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Val, > > > > > > > > > > > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. Guest guest
Not the undereye circles, too! I looked like I'd been in a bar brawl (and lost). The iron IVs improved them tremendously. I also seem to be able to reduce my HC dose a little - I wonder if raising my low iron has decreased some of the stress on my adrenals? Do you know why you are getting Ferrlecit? I get Venofer because a doctor years ago recommended it, but I wonder if one is superior to the other? I'd read that Venofer had lower incidence side effects (although I've never had any side effects from any iron IV). I can't take the oral iron liquid, it disagrees with me (let's just say you don't want the details...) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Val, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. Guest guest
The Ferrlecit is newer my hematologist told me & he feels better bc less side effects & easier to tolerate. I am very happy w it. There is an even newer one I think. Don't recall name off hand tho. The oral iron causes me issues too but I need to prop up what the IV iron does bc I don't want to keep back sliding w the Cytomel. I was up to 90 mcg & still feeling hypo w pains & such. I think I will prolly end up around 100 max. I shall see. Do you take any iron supps? If so, which ones? Guest guest
Thanks very much for the iron IV info. For oral iron supps, I am now taking the Blue Bonnet iron. I had my best results with Hema-Plex, but had to stop taking it because it contains copper and I tested too high in copper. Here's a link: http://www.iherb.com/Nature-s-Plus-Hema-Plex-Multinutrient-Hematinic-Supplement-\ 30-Tablets/7662?at=0 Hema-Plex comes in different strengths. The one I linked to is, I believe, the strongest. I only had to take two pills a day of this to get 170 mg elemental iron. That was nice, because now I have to take six of the blue bonnet to get about the same mgs. Lethal Lee has pointed out, correctly, that the B vitamins in Hema-Plex are not the most active forms available. It also contains green tea, which I usually avoid because tea contains fluoride. Still, hema-plex worked the best to keep my iron up, though. I had to reduce my Cynomel when my iron went low, too. It is a frustrating process all right. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Val, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We had spoke on phone bout 5 or so wks ago. Guest guest
Thnx for the iron supp info. I will check both of them out. Right now I am using Floradix, a liquid herbal iron supp. Tastes awful but I do feel " better " when I take it. I haven't had my copper tested. I am due for new blood work & will look into what other things I need tested. The Blue Bonnet seems to be the #1 choice on these boards. I have tried various pills in the past & they all ripped apart my stomach. Was not a pleasant experience.' Right now I am experimenting w sticking w 80 mcg of the T3 in light of the Iron IV. I am hoping that the pooling does not start again. I will most likely be getting the IV Iron 1 x per month until my ferritin can stay up on it's own. Be well.
