Guest guest
When the STTM site was started we knew nothign abotu Rt3. WhenI started this group I knew onyl a little about it but I knew for me it was very important, but I figured I might end up wioth a group of 50 members TOPS! LOL Oh well, live & learn! iT HAS TURNED INTO A HUGE ISSUE ESPECIALLY FOR FOLKS WIHT ADRNEAL ISSUES,. THE MAIN REASONS i STIL LDON;T ENCOURAGE THE rT3 TESTING RIGH TOFF THE BAT IS TWOFOLD. fIRST WE CNA USUALLY TELL FROM fT4 AND ft3 COMAPRISONS WHETHER rt3 IS LIEKLY AND CAN THEN RECOMMEND THE rt3 ISF IT LOOKS LIKE A POSSIBILITY. aND sECOND.. DOCTOR NEGATIVITY! It i hard enough ot find a natural thyroid doctor let alone one that believe in an " exoperimental " lab liek the Rt3 lab and then they have NO CLUE what to do with the results. Many ar seeing doctors particularly when they first join the group. Now once they throw their doc out and decide to self treat it shoudl be a mandatory lab! LOL but I DO try to getalong wiht their doctors recommendation until thye seem contradicitory to gettign well. http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ > get tested up front before treating anything? Guest guest
Hi Val. Because RT3 problems seem so common, why don't people get tested up front before treating anything? I feel like before I wasted a lot of time when if I knew that I had RT3 problems I would have attacked that problem first. I mean even on the Stop the Thyroid Madness site, I'm sure there are lots of people with the RT3 issue correct? Don't you think they should get tested as one of the first things they do before dosing NT? Thanks! Alayna I'm not Val, but, I couldn't help but reply. Were it not for my first wife getting sick and me becoming a health advocate for her up to her death... Were it not for my second wife also getting sick and requiring that I be an advocate for myself when I got sick... I'd have no idea about RT3. RT3 is a back-water of medical study, and most, without some intensive research, would have never found the link between profound bodily malfunction and RT3. This whole reverse T3 thing is much too new and unpublished for any kind of notice from your family doctor or endocrinologist. It's amazing that so many people happen upon this group and find a way to treat these long lasting issues. Val's group is on the very cutting edge of self treatment for chronic RT3 issues. I hope the medical community will soon catch up. Alan

Guest guest
Thank you all for your replies. Do you think it's because they (doctors) don't want to deal with all the fine tuning that it takes? They just want to say, here - take this pill and I'll see you next time? Val, how did you stumble upon this for yourself? Thanks for sharing your experience for the better good! Guest guest
No they honestly aer not taught anything abotu Rt3, whjen they wre in school. nothign much was known abotu it. Little is still knwon and studies are JUST now beginningto pop up and I do believe it is US stirring the pot and causing this to happen! I cannot take credit for being the first, Dr Lowe has been on to T3 for a LONG time and recommends it to his patients. BUT I think we have perfected it's use in treating our issues much more than even he has. I learned about it as I had a LOVELY doctor from the start with my hypo. At 19 years old my thyroid just stopped workign after being quite hyper for many of my teen years. I went ot an older DO and he diagnosed me with Hashi;s just by a physical exam and prescribed Armour. He told me how to titrate the dose up aand whemn I came back at 3 months later on 3 grains he commented that was a fairly high dose for someone so early into a Hashi diagnosis b ut also that I had no signs of hyper so I shoudl continue it. I felt PERFECT lost the weight i had gained, went back to my usually activities and was workign 2 jobs and having fun inbetween. OS I KNEW Armoru COULD work for me. Then when this great doc died, I had to find an Endo ( End-o-Life I call them!) And he said eh would NOT prescribe Armoru it was an old outdated med and he had this newer one that was more stable and so much better OFR me so my Synthroid hell days began. I felt OK at first, not quite as good as on Armour, but OK. He said the dosage needed adjuting. well we adjusted an adjusted and adjusted. And I slowly got sicker. Fast forward to 40 years old and 18 years of Syncrap. My BP was 245/148 my pulse was 48, I weighed 265 pounds and I am only 5'2 " tall. I could gain or lose 20 piunds overnight depending on waht I ate or drnk the day before due to the fluid retention I had. I had been told I needed surgery for vericose veins and thta was why my legs swelled so badly I needed co,mpression hose. I had beenon a no salt diet for 2 years tryignot fight the BO issues. I had nose bleeds nightly. WHY I never had a stroke I will never knwo except I think the big GUY upstairs had other plans for me, possibly what I am doing now! I should have died by all intents and purposes. SO then th epneuminia began. 5 times back to back and I 3was give the death sentence. 2 years maximum to live. Told my thyroi dhad nothignto do with it and there was nothign they nor anyone else could do for me. Sp I joined newsgroups on the brand new Internet! I finally found a source online for Armoru. And I read about how sea salt could reduce fluid retention. SO began the long road to self treating and self helign that I have accomplished. BUt after 10 years and coerrectign SO amny things that had gone wrong since Syncrap days, I still did nto feel unhypo. STILL!!! I also noted that even wiht 6 grains of Armoru my FT3 refused to go up. THAT was a lightbulb moment! SO I started experimenting wiht adding T3 to Armoru. I felt a LITTLE better, so encouraged I started ot do some serious research into all the causes of low T3 I could ifnd, and that led me to finding out abotu RT3 and finally making the decision ot give up my beloved Amroru and go with T3 onyl . I raised it WAY too high a I had no way to knwo about the timing of Rt3 clearance. NO ONE had discovered that yet! b ut when I did clear it was amazing and liek a light biulb that had long ago burnt out cam suddenly back on. Then a few others thta had joined me on this experimental quest alos cleared the Rt3 in 11-15 weeks we had a plan and Nick had wonderful results after his severe resistance, and on we have gone learning one by one the causes of this problem and how important it is. http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ > Thank you all for your replies.
