Guest guest
Yes, my body was not converting the T4 to T3 properly. It was making too much RT3. Every time they tried to reintroduce the T4, I ended up sick. Now that I'm on T3 I don't have the problems I was having when I had T4 in my system, either from Armour or Thyroxine. In fact it was the change that was made to the Armour formula that brought this all to a head and made me sick enough that my rheumy was willing to do all the testing he did to find the reason. Thank goodness for that man! <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Just because something isn't seen doesn't mean it's not there<> Subject: Has Anyone Suffered Major Hair Loss from Synthroid / Armour? To: RT3_T3 Date: Thursday, August 26, 2010, 7:33 PM I would LOVE to solve the mystery of my hair loss. I was not losing hair when I was diagnosed w/ sub-clinical hypo and hashi. My TSH hasn't ever been higher than 6.0. When I take the dose of Syn the doc. recommends, my hair falls out in droves - I have lost half my hair. When I stop the meds, the shedding stops but I feel horrible. recommended I get my Ferritin up (it's low at 23) and then take cytomel only. I have a RT3 of 380 (350 is highest range). Could it be that the RT3 and Iron is the problem? I have been going crazy for 3 years with this. My hair is horrible and almost gone! I just seems unlikely that I'm the only one this affects. thanks for ANY input!!! ------------------------------------We are not medical professionals here, just patients sharing our experiences. Guest guest
hello, i also have hypo and hashis and have lost 1/2 of my hair. since i started T3 it seems the loss has stopped (it seems when I am ready for an increase the hair starts to fall again but stops when I increase)......my hair actually is very thick in back and lower sides but the top crown part is still flat and i don't have anywhere near the volume on top i used to have....it's very distressing. it does seem to have gotten slightly better though with the T3, with the T4 especially synthetic it was worse. I am on week 9 of the T3 treatment and hope over the longer term to recover the hair I lost on top, if it's not too late! Guest guest
It does seem to be thickening up, but it's a slow process, and I guess we just have to have patience. I can tell I need a dose of T3 when I get cold. I can tell I need to up my overall dose when my head starts losing some hairs and my shoulders, upper arms and inside of my knees hurt. Weird but true. Even the physical therapist who had a masters agreed that those were hypo signs on me and not arthritis. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
I was upping my dosage based on my hair also, but now it seems I got too hyper, so Val recommended I cut back and wait a bit. I'm on week 9 and at 87 but will cut back 1/4 pill and wait a few more days............
