Guest guest
> But do feel constipated since starting the iron. Ferrain level last taken in March was at 7. Any thoughts? A ferritin level that low will give all sorts of thyroid related issues. Have you asked if you can get some Iron IVs?? if not it's time to take things with the iron to help absorption, Vitamin C in large doses can help. You may be low in stomach acid, Betaine HCL can help with this http://www.modernherbalist.com/betaine.html Magnesium can help as well. Have you had B12 tested, low levels of this can cause low iron as well. Guest guest
Since joining this group this is the 1st time I even knew of Iron IV's (well actually from the thyroid group which led me hear)so don't really know much about it. My regular doctor and gynecologist both think that nothing is wrong because of labs. Going to a hormone doctor who has been leading me in this direction but it has been over a year with this doctor and he moves slowly.Without this site and book (Stop the Thyroid Madness)I don't think I would have been put on HC as of March. I also had never heard of a possible RT3 issue as some others have made note of...so back to just the iron, I currently am taking 3-4000mg of Vit C daily so how do you suggest taking iron with Vit C? Also should I ask for an Iron Panel? I am waiting to get my latest Thyroid blood test which I should have this week but what other tests besides sex hormones would you suggest with this low ferratin of 7? > > > But do feel constipated since starting the iron. I am a novice on Iron so Val may jump in here. I think the time for an iron panel is when Ferritin is high and yet there are odd symptoms, at this time the % saturation figure is a good one to look at withj a target of 35%. When Ferritin is low there is a definate problem. The time to take the vit C is at the same time you take the iron, it helps the digestion of it, Nick

Guest guest
I usually take Vitamin C in pill form or sometimes in packet form like EmergenC. Should I just switch over to Vitamin C in liquid form? And I did read your thought to another poster in regards to what should be tackled first and low iron seems to be the first " fire " I need to put out. Could low iron be causing weight gain, bloating, headaches, etc...??? And I cannot believe that my hormone doc did not ask for my ferratin to be retested. I even asked if we should add it to the thyroid test and he said no, not at this time. > > > > >The time to take the vit C is at the same time you take the iron, it > >helps the digestion of it, > > or rather the absorption > > Nick >

Guest guest
I added the ferratin test the last time in March per the advice here, when it came back he definitely noted it but did not tell me how much iron to supplement or act like it was the most important issue, he just said I need to take an iron supplement. He started working on the adrenals a couple of months ago and then just added the HC recently and I think he is watching me for that...but no other reponse to the ferratin level. I was sadly dissapointed this last time in as he was the 3rd doctor now to ask me if I was seeing a therapist? And this one never mentioned it or said it until this last visit. Why do they automatically do this?? I mean it really throws you as a patient for a loop when you are telling a doctor that you have severe weight gain, stomach pains, headaches, allergies, etc, etc...that by the way I have never had before until the last few years and they listen to all of that and then tell you that you need to get therapy??? Or my regular doctor actually got MAD at me and told me to stop lying to myself and go to Weight Watchers??? I was shocked?! Anyway, sorry...I digress. I am another one of those sorry souls who is looking for a doctor to listen to me and sadly now taking this journey. Back to the ferratin...no, at this moment he is not addressing the ferratin. But I am going back in this week to see my thyroid results and see where we go with the rest. Any other questions or things I should try to address with him? > > >I usually take Vitamin C in pill form or sometimes in packet form like EmergenC. Guest guest
I found that each doctor I went to was eager to solve my problems, and tried all the tricks in his/her bag to help me. When their tricks didn't work, they were puzzled, and after awhile I had the distinct impression that if I were to disappear their lives would Improve! They were all nice people, but when what they had been taught didn't work, they too became discouraged. I believe it is at this point that they begin considering therapists. Many of us have been unable to find one doctor who will meet all our needs. In the end, you are responsible for your own health, and it is also you who have the most to gain by seeking the treatment you think you need.Ann Sent from my iPad I added the ferratin test the last time in March per the advice here, when it came back he definitely noted it but did not tell me how much iron to supplement or act like it was the most important issue, he just said I need to take an iron supplement.
