Guest guest
I found that each doctor I went to was eager to solve my problems, and tried all the tricks in his/her bag to help me. When their tricks didn't work, they were puzzled, and after awhile I had the distinct impression that if I were to disappear their lives would Improve! They were all nice people, but when what they had been taught didn't work, they too became discouraged. I believe it is at this point that they begin considering therapists. Many of us have been unable to find one doctor who will meet all our needs. In the end, you are responsible for your own health, and it is also you who have the most to gain by seeking the treatment you think you need.Ann Sent from my iPad I added the ferratin test the last time in March per the advice here, when it came back he definitely noted it but did not tell me how much iron to supplement or act like it was the most important issue, he just said I need to take an iron supplement. He started working on the adrenals a couple of months ago and then just added the HC recently and I think he is watching me for that...but no other reponse to the ferratin level. I was sadly dissapointed this last time in as he was the 3rd doctor now to ask me if I was seeing a therapist? And this one never mentioned it or said it until this last visit. Why do they automatically do this?? I mean it really throws you as a patient for a loop when you are telling a doctor that you have severe weight gain, stomach pains, headaches, allergies, etc, etc...that by the way I have never had before until the last few years and they listen to all of that and then tell you that you need to get therapy??? Or my regular doctor actually got MAD at me and told me to stop lying to myself and go to Weight Watchers??? I was shocked?! Anyway, sorry...I digress. I am another one of those sorry souls who is looking for a doctor to listen to me and sadly now taking this journey. Back to the ferratin...no, at this moment he is not addressing the ferratin. But I am going back in this week to see my thyroid results and see where we go with the rest. Any other questions or things I should try to address with him? > > >I usually take Vitamin C in pill form or sometimes in packet form like EmergenC. Guest guest
Thanks Ann and Nick, Yes, what you said about the doctors rings true. I do think they try what they know and then get frustrated...I just needed to vent as it feels very demeaning I guess, sorry about that. Back to business! > > > > >I usually take Vitamin C in pill form or sometimes in packet form like EmergenC. Guest guest
Are you using the Bluebonnet 27 mg chelated iron? I'd tried for 6 mos without success to get my ferritin up with other products with stomach aches and constipation. With Bluebonnet I could take 7 pills a day with no adverse effects and was able to get it up to 45 within 3.5 months from 19. Kerry > > Started trying to up my iron level slowly to see what my system could take in the last couple of days. Taking 65mg iron 1 in morning with food and then afternoon and hoping to up it to a 3rd dose soon, but stomach cramps/pains started since taking iron. > I am on 1 grain naturethroid, 20mg hydrocortisone 10/5/5, plus supplements but I find that I don't want to take the 3rd dose as sleep is hard for me as it is and this keeps me up more. But do feel constipated since starting the iron. Ferrain level last taken in March was at 7. Any thoughts? >
Guest guest
I am not using the Bluebonnet but I keep seeing it suggested here so I do think I will switch to it. I just took my first dose about an hour ago and the stomach pains started and also heart/chest pains. And that is off of just one dose! > > > > Started trying to up my iron level slowly to see what my system could take in the last couple of days. Guest guest
Although you need to be taking 200mg you should probably work up to it. I’m taking twice daily 2 http://www.bluebonnetnutrition.com/product/122/Albion%AE_Chelated_Iron_18_mg_Vcaps 1 http://www.amazon.com/Iron-Extra-Blood-Support-Capsules/dp/B00065KEB4 1 http://www.amazon.com/Megafood-Blood-Builder-60-tablets/dp/B0001532T0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8 & s=hpc & qid=1277778450 & sr=1-2 And once daily http://www.bluebonnetnutrition.com/product/46/Multi_One%AE_Vcaps Which roughly adds to 200 MG of iron. Maybe try some combinations to see what might work best for you and start slowly. I was very anemic when I was pregnant 13 years ago and had a terrible experience with iron but I’ve had pretty good success by combining the supplements and making sure I’m getting enough C and taking with food. Besides you should take the iron 4 hours after taking your thyroid meds, lunchtime and dinnertime work best for me. Early in the morning may not be the best time. Guest guest
No patient should have to put up with that kind of disrespect, and you have a right to say so gently and politely, but say so. If they get away with this kind of thing they will only continue it. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
Yesterday late day did not seem so bad, 1st dose did cause stomach and chest pains and maybe you are right and taking it anytime in the morning for me right now may not be OK? By afternoon and 45 min after eating lunch took 2nd dose and did not seem so bad. But I do think I need to build up to the max amount. I have ordered the BlueBonnet though. > > Although you need to be taking 200mg you should probably work up to it. > > > > I'm taking twice daily > > 2 > http://www.bluebonnetnutrition.com/product/122/Albion%AE_Chelated_Iron_1 > 8_mg_Vcaps > > 1 http://www.amazon.com/Iron-Extra-Blood-Support-Capsules/dp/B00065KEB4 > > 1 > http://www.amazon.com/Megafood-Blood-Builder-60-tablets/dp/B0001532T0/re > f=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1277778450&sr=1-2 > > > > And once daily > http://www.bluebonnetnutrition.com/product/46/Multi_One%AE_Vcaps > > > > Which roughly adds to 200 MG of iron. Guest guest
Beth, thank you for posting about the iron dosing. I had never heard about taking the iron 4 hours after the thyroid meds. Thank you for that info. I just wanted to throw in here in regards to the original post with this thread that anyone who is having stomach pain and bloating might want to try eliminating gluten for a few weeks just to see what happens. It is amazing how many people suffer from stomach and abdominal pain, IBS, bloat, and a myraid of other symptoms and they are talking to their docs for years and no one ever mentions the possibility of gluten intollerance. I went for over 5 years with increasing pain and bloat and "IBS" type issues only to find that when i eliminated gluten it all disappered along with a mysterious rash that would cronically appear on my hands that non one could ever diagnose or treat successfully. Anyway, it can't hurt to try elliminating gluten for a few weeks! Sharon Remember! Dolls are people, too....have you hugged your dolls today? Guest guest
Also try checking progesterone levels, because I heard that low progesterone can cause bloating. I had lowered my dosage, and immediately started bloating. I "think" upping the dosage again has helped, because I haven't bloated the past two days. Also, I know that the gluten thing helps, too! When I eat wheat, I blow up! (Sorry if this is off topic). We've been discussing bloating in chats, if anyone is so inclined!
