Guest guest
Hi I am also in a state of confusion about the septum in the uterus. I wrote on this board a month or so and got some helpful responses too. I recently saw a fertility specialist who feels that the septum revision is not necessary. His opinion is that there is no valid research that has been done on resections to be able to say that resection drastically improves outcomes. His feeling is to give it another shot (I mc at 14 wks, and did not know until I was pregnant that I had a problem with my uterus) Let me say that I have not made up my mind about this yet--I have another appt for a second opinion. I am not sure I buy his opinion, especially after reading these posts. It makes sense to me that if it implants on the side opposite the septum, then there shouldn't be a problem. However, we obviously don't have any control of this. I am more confused than ever as to what to do, and I am 37. Not much time to make the wrong decision..... Does anyone know of any true research studies done on SU? Guest guest
Hello! It is very fusterating.... the vague info I saw on line says that the surgery seems to have 70-80% pregnancy success. All of the studies are slightly confusing with all the medical lingo. I am in the same boat - you try for years not to get pregnant and then when you are finally ready - you are ready - I am ready. Of course then you learn it is not as easy as you thought. This entire experience is not what I thought.... I am in the same boat and undecided what to do! When are you getting your second oponion? > > > > Hello - > > > > This might be a stupid question - but with a SU they say if the egg > > implants on the uterine wall it should be successful - but if it > > implants on the septum it will most likely be nonviable as there is > > not enough blood to support. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, that sounds about right, a 50-50 chance of implanting on the septum, or partially on the septum. Be careful what you read on the web, the all stats give different information. I read numbers from 40-90% chance of m/c, on different sites, that is a wide range. Rmember they are limited studies, and don't take into account all the woman that have successful pregnancies and don't know they have S/U. I am currently 23 weeks pregnant with a complete S/U. Currently, we are checking my cervix every 4 weeks, and so far so good. I did have a miscarriage at 8 weeks back in March, but who knows if my S/U had anything to do with it? It could have been my age, 38...or just one of those things. I wish you the best with whatever you decide to do. Guest guest
Hi, I am so sorry for frustration, I heard that sometimes with an SU or BU even if the baby implants on the good part of the uterus the separation can restrict grown and a baby can deliver early or be in a breach position. Has anyone else heard that?
