Guest guest
Val, I have read that when intake of iron is low the TIBC is higher, presumably in an attempt to maximize absorption. Conversely, when loading iron TIBC is lower. Is this true? Guest guest
Val, Thank you so much for this feedback, but i should have added that I am not taking ANY iron supplements. Does this panel still look abnormal then? And does that still mean I have inflammation? Where would the inflammation be---my antibodies are always high, is that the inflammation? Should I start iron supps to bring up the sat rate? Is it abnormal enough that I should deal with this before I start T3? SORRY for so many questions---I know you are swamped! Warmly, Kate > > > >> > >> In the past, I have just been getting my ferritin test done which always comes out fine, but since you are now advising to get the whole iron panel done, I just got my first iron panel done, and although my ferritin and iron levels are okay, it looks like I have low saturation and TIBC. > >> > >> Does that mean that I am not absorbing my iron into cells, and the iron is just pooling in the blood? > >> And does this need to be dealt with before starting T3? > >> And how do you improve saturation rate or TIBC if iron is okay? > >> > >> Thanks for any help on this! B12 is high as it shoudl be, Folate is high as it shoudl be, Serum Iorn mid-range, Transferin Sat% is just over 35%, Ferritin falling in perfect range of 70-90. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ > Val, I have read that when intake of iron is low the TIBC is higher, presumably in an attempt to maximize absorption. Guest guest
The saturation is what is low and serum iron. SO I would supplement iron but not at the usual high dose I generally recommend. ONE 27mg tablet a day shoudl help you raise that but it wil be slow. I do nto knwo if you will have T3 issues wiht intolerance wiht these labs btu taking T3 will help build that level to a better place, so I woudl certainyl try T3 and raising it to see if you can tolerate the correct dose. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ > Val, > > Thank you so much for this feedback, but i should have added that I am not taking ANY iron supplements. > Warmly, Kate > > >>> >>> >>>> In the past, I have just been getting my ferritin test done which always comes out fine, but since you are now advising to get the whole iron panel done, I just got my first iron panel done, and although my ferritin and iron levels are okay, it looks like I have low saturation and TIBC.
