Guest guest
Ways to excersize the muscles of swallowing and speech My speech Gal taught me some . 1- with a tongue depressor stick your tongue out and push on the tongue depressor ,hold this as long as you can ,this strengthens the tongue muscles . Do as many as these as you can .note how this tightens the neck muscles just under the chin ,these are the swallow muscles . 2- fill a glass of water or milk or even milk shake ,start with a straw at the top maybe an 1 1/2 " down ,now blow into the liquid making bubbles keep going until you can't (put paper towels under and around the glass as sometimes you may spill some or blow some out . thinner liquids are easier The higher you start the least amount of pressure you'll have .The lower you start the more pressure you'll have . this strenghtens the soft palate . i do this during the day makes a mess so do it over a sink .Seems silly but does help .I find this foces my palate to close where mine is somewhat flacid, making for hypernasality or a dysarthria . 3- facial muscles smile with a big smile holding for a while then go to a tight pucker, holding the pucker as long as possible then back to the smile ,do several of these 4- of course we know the TA TA TA TA CA CA CA PA PA PA PA All for now GEO
