I am confused in that if hypo/Hashi’s causes inflammation,

and inflammation causes high Ferritin, why then doesn’t everyone have

adequate or an abundance of Ferritin so RT3 treatment can be started?

This is all so confusing.

Last March, after posting my labs, which showed FT4 1.38 (0.82-1.77)/FT3

4.5 (2.3-4.2)to be at very good levels but with a RT3 of over 312, it was

suggested that I start Cytomel in addition to maintaining my Naturethroid. I have

done this for all these months and just recently repeated labs, which showed

again FT4 1.11 (0.82-1.77)/FT3 4.3 (2.3-4.2)) levels to be at a great

range, very little change from March, yet the RT3 is now showing 317

(90-351). Again, I am totally confused and not sure where to go from here.

I am feeling pretty well, my temps are stable, yet below 98.6. I

am losing weight and sleeping like a baby. My Ferritin is 201. Adrenals are

looking good with one small dip around 2:00 PM but I am supplementing with

Adrenal Complex. I have to say, for my age, which is very senior… things

are doing ok. Should I be concerned about the RT3 numbers/ratios or just

continue doing what I am doing?

Thanks for your continued support and knowledge.

Inflammation can only riase ferritin if you have iron in your serum

to be stored as ferritin. If your serum iron is low then there is

nothign to put into storage so all levels of iron are lwo and anemia

happens. Low thyrodi also causes anemia and iron loss as it affects

red blood cell produciton. Withotu sufficient new red blood cells to

carry iron we cannto hold onto it or absorb it so the levels fall

over time.
