The things that slow it are if iron is too low to tolerate enough T3 to suppress TSH and hence T4. In this case you have a longer journey as you have to get iron up first > >3. does the ratio number correlate with ended up dosage (of course taking into >account symptoms) > Not to any extent. Generally those with a lower ratio will have more resistance though so may need more T3 to clear hypo symptoms while waiting. As far as I know there is no correlation with dose required post clearance. >Just wondering these few things, along with wondering why this so is benign and >abstract to our golden physicians? Physiologically, it makes total sense. > The training of Drs in this area leaves a lot to be desired. I am an electronics person, Drs should know more about it than I do but sadly they don't seem to. Guest guest
Hi Nick,So glad to see you. Just an aside, my husband is an electronics engineer tech (for 30 yrs), and after showing him an article written by an engineer regarding the negative feedback loop, the proverbial light bulb went off in his brain with all of this 'thyroid stuff' as he calls it. So glad to have another electronics person 'really understanding' this process. I pray and pray that this is the answer to my pain/fatigue, etc. There is little quality of life and it gets less everyday. We all have only a small amount of energy to deal with this pain and miriad of symptoms and it continues to decrease. I thought finally getting put on a thyroid medication (compounded thyroid) would do it, but in researching this further and with your awesome work in this field, getting taken to a whole deeper level will hopefully deal with the PROBLEM. Like electronics...if there is a bad connection somewhere, some of the things may work down the line, but never to full capacity. Thanks again for all your work and help. I know I will be needing the continued guidance through my next few months (at least).Nanci B.Minnesota, USATo: RT3_T3 Sent: Wed, August 4, 2010 8:39:13 AMSubject: Re: Question about RT3 ratio number > >My question(s) about the ratio number: > >1. does the ratio number correlate with the severity of symptoms (hemoglobin >for example...the lower the number, the more anemic a person is and the more >severe the anemia is and usually more severe symptoms) > Yes, generally the worse the ratio the more hypo the person is. I was just putting it on paper and it was based on 5 months of posts on this group plus asking questions. The web site will have a major revamp at some stage when I have time as there is a lot more knowledge about iron levels and lab numbers since I put that site together.
