Guest guest
OK so graduated in November. At the time I didn't feel he should be done, I felt sure they would recommend a 2nd helmet but they didnt at the visit they d/c the helmet and later said it was pretty much verified by his measurements. I figured if I asked for one they would consider it though, wouldnt they? He still has visible ear assymetry and some flatness. Dh thought he looked great though so we decided we would wait and go with the measurements. Since the measurements came back that his assymetries were down to 4, 5, and 6 mm which was better than the expected 8 and down from 15,15 and 17 dh didnt feel we should even consider a 2nd band. But now he keeps commenting that he still has a flat spot here (back top of his head) and here (top side of his head). Of course I finally said, I showed you that and you thought he looked great and didnt want to do anything about it. He now wants to reconsider that and wonders if since it has been 4 mo since his band if they will even consider a 2nd band (he is 16½ months old) and if they do will the insurance take issue with the fact that he measures under 9 or that we waited so long between bands. The only answer I could give him is that he better hurry if he even wants to consider it b/c they tend to only start them in a band until 18 mo. -- SC SAHM to , , , , and what should we name our baby girl? Guest guest
Hi : I will give you our story as far as insurance/banding goes. Aiden's first band was inititally denied, but then approved. His second band was approved right away. That one was an ill fit, but that is another story. He was 'graduated' on January 3rd (13 1/2 months old at that time). Well looking at his head it just kept nagging on us that he still had such flatness (Brachy). We contacted DOC to see if maybe a third band could improve his little head. They took all the insurance info over the phone, looked at his pictures, contacted the insurance company and, much to our surprise, his third band has been approved. My thoughts on the situation are: once the insurance company accepts the fact that there is a 'condition' they can then not deny it for consecutive claims. I don't know if my theory is right, maybe some of the other members can comment on it. We are going to the DOC band location in West Chicago tomorrow (Monday) to get our evaluation and scan. So, when Aiden gets his third band he will be just a few days shy of 17 months. Hopefully it will help, at this point we don't know, but feel that we have to do anything we can. I just wish we would have taken this step in January when he was 'graduated'. We were told that if we kept his hair longer, etc, etc, he would look o.k. It gets me in the anger mode just recalling that last consult. Good luck to you and keep posting, Heidrun Aiden's proud Grandma > > OK so graduated in November.
