Does the majority of the conversion of free t4 get converted into free t3 in

your gut? I was on a gallbladder website and it mentioned this - so I got the

impression that possibly after gallbladder removal surgery you could start

having problems with converting t4 to t3 which is what happened to me and I also

started gaining weight at that point. Is this correct? Here is the link to the

website -

OK well then what would it mean then if twice over the last year or so I have

had horrible upper GI pain that radiated through my chest and sent me to the ER

both times and when lab work was done my liver enzymes were elevated? 4 times

the upper limit of normal this last time on my ALT - they so far have checked

for hepatitis but that has all come back normal but my ALT and AST are both

elevated. I am also constantly mildly swollen and tired and can't get my free t4

to increase but my free t3 does and my tsh is good. Help!
