Lee, that is what I always thought but on Janie's blog on STTM she has that it facilitiates the T4 to RT3 so people with those concerns should stop taking selenium. I did drop back to the once a day 200mcg but this was a new one for me.

I think you mean helps convert the T4 to T3???It also helps with antibodies so is a good idea if you have Hashi's.It also helps some with Mercury so is a good idea as we all get some exposure to that too. However I do think 200mcg twice a day is high. I would just continue to take 200mcg a day. It is good to take whether you have a RT3 issue or not.Lethal Lee>> I just read in Janie's blog that selenium helps convert T4 to RT3. My doc had had me increase my selenium back in the winter. I am still taking quite a bit...200 mcg twice a day. So I dropped that down to once a day. Should I stop it altogether? Sharon

LOW selsnium would require supplementation as it does other things

besides convert T4 ot BOTH T3 and RT3, but I owuld get it tested

before supplementing it . If it si nto lwo you are encouraging T4 ot

RT3 conversion.
