This is what I said ages ago, by cutting your dose he's sending you

more hypo.

2 grains is not normally enough for anyone, the " typical " dose range

is 3 to 5 and someone with resistance and type 2 will need more still.

This is partly why you are losing iron, you are hypo.

Yeah Nick..I am loosing Ferritin, cause I am hypo - They are cutting my thyroid meds cause I can't tolerate them with low Ferritin. Though they don't seem to be so obsessed with Ferritin. They are more into the Growth Hormone thing. If one has too low GH one won't tolerate T3, they say.The solution in MY Nick/-educated opinion? Take more iron. BUT THE PROBLEM IS: If I don't have enough stomach acid, I won't absorb the iron no matter how much I take. I did iron labs TODAY actually. Doubt they're any good. Here's what I think happened to me:2007: After taking a lot (!) of antibiotics over 28 years time, my intestines "gave up", lading to bad digestion. Bad absorption of iron lead to low Ferritin, and I probably had low cortisol at the same time. Resulting it my body NOT tolerating the thyroid meds I was on at

the time: 100 mcg T4 and 40 mcg T3. I've had problems since... Today, Ithink the most important issue is to correct my (tonsils, yes, they should go, BUT...) STOMACH issues: The bad digestion, and possible (probably) low stomach acid, leads to bad iron absorption.. Which leads to low Ferritin.. Which makes me not tolerate thyroid meds.. And here I am, with pressure on my chest, again! :( The return of an old symptom. We reduced the 5 mcg T3 dose due to SHAKING/VIBRATION in my body for days. It's day 11 now. But the problem can't be corrected if my stomach won't improve. Unless I do iron IV's.So we're looking at: Adding BEATIN HCL, keep taking PANCREATIC ENZYME (CREON brand) which I have been taking for 3 days now. The first day "looked good" (if ya'll know what I'm talking about) but the next 2 sent me back to the good old crap. So... I think I might HAVE to add that BEATIN. I've just been worried about taking it if

there's any chance what so ever I have _high_ stomach acid............ Then BEATIN would be dangerous!?!?!?

There is a test for whether Betain will benefit you. This test looks

for whether there is much acis there

>To discover if you have too much or not enough acid do the burp test. This

means put a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into warm water and drink on an

empty stomach. After half an hour if you have enough or too much acid then you

will be burping like crazy. If not burping or only a little bit you know that

taking those anti acid pills is making you worse.

If you decide to try Betain then it has instructions on finding the

right dosage

From http://www.modernherbalist.com/betaine.html

>Directions For Use of Betaine HCL

>When using Betaine HCL with Pepsin for the first few times, please be sure to

follow the directions carefully. Always take Betaine HCL at the start of the

meal! If taken without food, stomach burning may result.

>

>1. At the very start of the meal, take one capsule of Betaine HCL. Monitor how

your stomach feels during and after eating. Should any burning or heaviness

occur, or if burning has been present previously (before taking the supplement)

and is now worsened with the use of the Betaine HCL, do not continue using this

supplement!!! This is an indication that your stomach is overproducing acid, or

that your stomach lining may be damaged. In such cases, please consider the use

of Alkabase, Gastric Complex-HP and/or Mastica, to normalize excess acid

production and heal the stomach lining.

>

>2. If the first dose of Betaine HCL produced no noticeable stomach discomfort,

try taking two capsules at the start of your next meal, again monitor for

burning and or heaviness during and after eating. If taking two capsules

produces some discomfort, but one capsule does not, restrict yourself to one

capsule at the start of each meal. If the two capsule dose produced no

discomfort, try three capsules at the start of your next meal.

>

>3. If all goes well when taking three capsules at the start of each meal, stay

with that dosage, most individuals will not require increasing the dosage to

four capsules. Regular use of supplemental hydrochloric acid will in most cases

" re-train " the stomach to produce higher concentrations of acid on its own. This

process may take anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on the

individual. The most significant indication that acid production is improving is

that Betaine HCL supplementation can no longer be comfortably tolerated.

Between those two checks you are not going to have excess acid.

Hello Nick, thanks a lot for the info! The funny thing is.. I found that page just before I saw your link! :)So there is a "lab test" to check how much acids I have in my stools or something!?What if I just have some kind of food allergy, like.. Maybe I can't have lactose.. And this is leading to my bad digestion? Then it would be bad to add both pancreatic enzyme and beatin!

Just try it the easy way, the burp test and then trying the Betain to

see if you get the " warm feeling "

it's a benign way of finding out if it helps
