Guest guest
Instructions on how to calculate the ratios, and how to adjust for different units of measurement, are in our " Files " section, called: Examples of How to Calculate RT3 Ratio.doc and Examples.txt here's a link: http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/4BBKTF3GSvwEeEJdzLFvSy0JAH3EooCllh43my8CRh9DjEB3I-S\ QpxSJirGemrxOE9qPgcY8sbf3ZQNk4T92HA/Examples.txt T3-only treatment is recommended here to resolve RT3 issues. Moderator Nick's website says: " The main symptom of RT3 issues is that of hypothyroidism that won't respond to treatment. " from: http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/whatare.htm Don't miss the rest of Nick's excellent website for lots more RT3 info: http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ (FYI: This message may come through twice. I posted it last night but it didn't show up, so am trying again.) > > My T3/rT3 ratio at 3.5 makes sense to me since the units ng/dL are the same. My T3=70ng/dL and rT3=19ng/dL. I read somewhere that this ratio should be greater than 10. > I also read that fT3/rT3 ratio should be greater than 20 but this seems way too large to me since the units are different. When I translate my fT3 of 1.8 pg/mL to .18 ng/dL so I have common units, I get a ratio of .18ng/dL / 19ng/dL = ..01. I suspect people kicking around this 20 rule of thumb are ignoring the units. > In any event I have been on Armour and using Thyro-Gold lately to titrate up the dose so at least the T3's are midrange instead of being at the bottom. My free T4=.89ng/dL with range.81-1.48ng/dL. Ferritin=73ng/mL. My 24hour urine cortisol was slightly above normal. > > I am trying to decide whether to drop the Armour(actually EFRA)and go the T3 only route. Please give reasons if you think T3 only would be best. Thanks. >
Guest guest
Oops, is that link I sent not working? Just go to our " files " section and click on Examples.txt to get to the ratio calc instructions. > > > > My T3/rT3 ratio at 3.5 makes sense to me since the units ng/dL are the same. Thanks. > OK, units are a pain in the ass but if you ignore what the actual units are and play with the decimal point to get an answer that runs somewhere around 2 to 30 you get a ratio around 9.5 for yourself. This should be 20 or greater. Can you repost the RT3, FT3, and FT4 with the ranges please so I can make sure where you are. From the information in that post you are going to benefit from T3 only Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com For lots of good information of adrenal issues http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ and the adrenal group on http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
