Guest guest
Betty, Have you read Nicks website? Here is the link. It has most of the information you need to get started. http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ If you have a reverse T3 problem the only way to resolve it is to take T3 only. Synthroid is T4. Natural thyroid like Armour or Naturethroid is T3 and T4. Good luck. > > Does anyone take Synthroid? Guest guest
Here is the nitty gritty: the only way to fix an RT3 issue is to go on T3 only. If you are currently on synthroid there is a page on the site you were referred to which will give you the conversion for how much T3 to start on for how much synthroid you were on. Synthroid is a T4 only synthetic medicine. It is not identical to the human thyroid T4. natural desicated thyroid from pigs is the closest you can come to the human thyroid. natural desicated thyroid is T4, T3, T2 and T1. To determine if you have a reverse T3 issue you need to have your RT3 and your free T3 test results so that you can compare the 2 numbers. the main indication that one has an RT3 issue is that the thryoid medicine stops working even when increased. There are a lot of other things that one has to check such as adrenals, ferritin/iron, B12, and D3 among others in order to successfully clear the RT3. But you can not clear out an RT3 problem while taking synthroid. best of luck, sharon Remember! Dolls are people, too....have you hugged your dolls today? Guest guest
Sharon, I appreciate your response. I was hypoT3. Started Cytomel 5-6 months ago. Have not gotten the dose right. I went to a new doctor that I was expecting to put me on Natural thyroid. Instead she said I could go that way or add Synthroid to the Cytomel. I was surprised at that to the point I didn't know what to say. After only T3 I am now slightly low T4.   For the time being she gave me Synthroid to add to the T3, which I am looking for more info before I start it. Now I am wondering if Synthroid is a drug any one here would take. I have not yet gotten my adrenal tests back. I think I now have information overload. Betty  Here is the nitty gritty:  the only way to fix an RT3 issue is to go on T3 only. Guest guest
> Yes, I have information overload. Is Synthroid undesirable to the >point no one uses it? If you have an RT3 issue then you are better off on T3 only. RT3 and T3 are both made from T4 and without T4 no more RT3 can be produced. IF you have cleared RT3 and want to swap back then you can use natural or add Synthroid to the T3 but not many people have benefited from this Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com For lots of good information of adrenal issues http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ and the adrenal group on http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

If you were taking enough T3 then your T4 should be very low, well below bottom of range, which is what we are aiming for. Can you give us some history of labs, dosage etc so we know where you are coming from Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com For lots of good information of adrenal issues http://www.nthadrenalsweb.com/ and the adrenal group on http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
>Does anyone take Synthroid? Does it need to be divided dose like Cytomel? If you want to add T4 to the mix then once a day is OK You need to be fully optimized on T3 only before you contemplate it If you are not right on T3 then it will be worse with T4 as well. Guest guest
I took a low dose for a bit---made my stomach really hurt. Dr. switched to one of the others--Levo maybe?--made my stomach hurt as bad. I personally won't take again for that reason.
