Hi, My name is Mandy

I've suffered low energy, depression, no drive or any semblance of zest for

life, excessive sleeping, never waking refreshed, No sex drive, feeling drugged

in the morning……since my late teen yrs. I am now 43. During the past 3 yrs I

have been through so much hell with my health due to nerve pain/surgery and

perhaps even Peri-menopause but I am slowly recovering ….through finding many

food allergies/ intolerances as well as hormone therapy. However I feel there

is still a big piece missing as I cannot get rid of the pervasive symptoms I've

described above.

I know I have a Reverse T3 issue (over the past 2 days since finding this site,

I have read close to 500 messages here) and my doc will not listen to me. My

levels are fine, she says. Although for the last 3 lab's I've had done she has

mentioned each time that she would like to see my TSH down closer to 2.

However, she doesn't offer me guidance as to how to do this?! I tried my

hardest to press her yesterday, and she finally said " you have a pituitary

problem " , " but I guess we can add a dessicated thyroid supplement " (just an over

the counter product her office sells). …..sigh

Please help me. I guess I'm just looking for confirmation here before I proceed

" helping " myself.

My labs:

Dec 2009: Labs ordered independently of my current doc

TSH- 3.410 uIU/mL (0.45- 4.5)

FT3- 3.9 pg/ml (2.3-4.2)

FT4- 1.14 ng/dl (0.89-1.76)

RT3- 312 pg/ml (90-350)

Cortisol am/serum: 18.4 ug/dl (2.3-19.4) HIGH

Dhea am/serum: 790 H ng/dl (110-554) HIGH

July 2010: different lab

TSH- 3.40 mcIU/ml (0.3-5.0)

FT3- 3.66 pg/ml (2.77-5.27)

FT4- 1.1 ng/dl (0.8-2.0)

No RT3 ordered

Cortisol am/serum- 14.3 mcg/dl (6.0-25) I got that lowered, probably due to

addressing the food intolerances

DHEA- Lab mistakenly ran a DHEASulfate instead….so can't compare.

I've done the math using Dec values….Ft3/RT3: my ratio is 12.5 (correct me if

I'm wrong)

I'm ready to move forward very carefully and treat myself (which it sounds like

a lot of you are)….

1.I'm going to order a 24 saliva cortisol test. Now that depends on what you

think of my values. It seems to me my cortisol is pretty high…although I don't

know what you feel about serum testing.

2.I'm also going to order a Ferritin test to see where those levels are. Never

been done before.

3.In the mean time I want to order some T3 to have on hand once the test results

are in. Where/how do I go about doing this? I've used InHouse Pharm (EU) myself

before, however it sounds like Mexico is the place? Can someone email me who

they use? That would help me greatly!

Thanks so much for your time and input. Hope it's clear, I have difficulty with

my cognitive ability, (always questioning whether I made sense).

Mandy

First you do nto have a pituitary problem. Your TSH is showing

hyothyroid and you ARE hypothyroid as well as having an Rt3 problem. A

14.3 for an AM cortios is not high but LOW. So you csertainly shoud get

the saliva cortisol test before proceeding wiht T3 treatment, I cna help

you on the adrnelas group with that if oyu need help wiht adrenal

issues. ALSO do not get JUST a ferritin lab. You need a full iron panel.

In our LINKS section is labs you can order your own testing and I wil

send you sources for T3 by private email. Check your spam folder if it

doesn;t turn up soon.
