Guest guest
Brief History: I have hashi's, s/p RAI 1999. Untreated for years b/c labs were " normal. " Confirmed adrenal fatgiue, so bad that I became and still am bed ridden since June 2010. Found Dr. that treats adrenal but she admits she has lot to learn and knows little to nothing about RT3 issues. Labs results received on June 25 revealed RT3 ratio of 8 so I discontinued Armor, previously I was on synthroid. Once my temps were stable on HC, I started Cytomel 5mcg for one week, then increased to 10mcg a day per doctor. I've been on Cytomel for a total of 11 days. My ferritin is low 21. I've switched from ferrous sulfate(my ferritin went down on ferrous sulfate) to iron bisglycinate in hopes that will raise levels. I have very low progesterone – actually my levels were at zero. Also have gluten and soy allergy and I'm vegan. My vit d is 41. Question: I'm confused if I'm doing the right thing overall, but especially in terms of dealing with the RT3. Will the " decaying " begin once I stop T4 or does the adrenals have to be stable prior to the T4 levels deminish? My temps were stable for a few days prior to starting cytomel – within .2 daily. But a week later , they are all over the place. 97.4 -98.3. I just don't know what to do or what to be more concerned with. RT3, adrenals, fluctuating temps or all of the above? I'm just really paranoid I'm doing the wrong thing and I no longer want to be bed ridden nor deal with depression, dry skin, bloating, etc. I know everything takes time, but I so desperately wish to regain some quality of life back soon. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Guest guest
OK you need ot increase the iron to 200mg daily. The amount you are takign will not touch your levels. I woudl raise the T3 VERY slowly as the iroin needs ot catch up before you will be able to tolerate and utilize the T3. So I owuld hold your T3 dose for a week, thne try to raise to 15mcg. As youhad RAI you probbaly have little ot no thyroid production of your own so oyu need ot push the T3 as much as you can wihtout driving your cortiols into the grounD. aRE YOU TAKIGN ANYTHING FOR ADRENALS? How about progesterone? With it thta low you need ot start low around 50-100mg and build it slowly to avoid more stres to your body. Thta low progesteroine suggest oyu need ot break down and eat some meats. Cholesterol is not the evil thing it is painted ot be it is the basis of every steroid hormone the body makes. One of the only things I knwo of thta can dump progesterone thta low is too low cholesterol. > > Brief History: > I have hashi's, s/p RAI 1999. Untreated for years b/c labs were " normal. Guest guest
Sorry I see no w you are takign HC. You also need ot raise vitamin C as thta helps the iron absorb. It iin=s not unusual to take 2000-3000 a day with iron. http://www.nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://www.health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.faqhelp.webs.com/ http://www.health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ > OK you need ot increase the iron to 200mg daily. Guest guest
Sorry, I forgot to list the progesterone. This is the progesterone schedule: 25mg once a day, days 1-13; 25mg twice a day, days 14-17; 50mg twice a day, days 18-25; 25mg twice a day, days 26-29 Also in the last 24 hrs, i've been reading the archived posts in this group and the adrenal group. So with that info, yesterday I did take the iron bisglycinate 3x/day and 2000mg of vit c. The 75mg of iron bisglycinate is actual iron, such as 325mg of ferrous sulfate had 65mg of iron. But last night I couldn't sleep. was awake from 2am to 5am and now have heartburn and diarrhea. Could that be contributed to the iron or vit c increase? My cholesterol is good. it is 154. I am a vegan because i'm an animal rights activist, so meat is not a option. I consume proteins with every meal through grains, beans. should i start to be concerned that my once stable temps are now unstable on 35mg of HC? Thank you for the response. Guest guest
tHE DIARRHEA IS MOST LIKELY ORM RAISNG THE VITAMIN c. Yes the adrenals destabilizing is because your body cnnot tolerate the T3 yet as iron is still too low. http://www.nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://www.health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.faqhelp.webs.com/ http://www.health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ > Sorry, I forgot to list the progesterone.
