Guest guest
hey lisa, just my two cents, i would go with the full iron panel... if you are wondering what your iron levels are, ferritin alone may not give you the most accurate picture, as it could be extremely elevated in times of inflammation and stress while your other iron levels are low. a full iron panel (iron, iron saturation, tibc, uibc) will give a more comprehensive picture. the iron panel is pretty cheap on econolabs.com at only $23... and as for thyroid if you go to healthcheckusa and use the Stopthethyroidmadness discount a full thyroid panel is only 75$...(if you use the discount code STTM10) those are really great prices in my opinion, and maybe affordable together? i think the saliva cortisol test is more around $150, but i'm not sure?? > > Hi, I have not been able to afford any tests at all in over two years. > > I am wondering if I can afford ONLY one test, which one should I start out with? (thyroid, cortisol, or ferritin?) > > I'm wondering if I should start off with checking ferritin? I mean I can afford ONE only in the next few weeks... and if I get ferritin test, can it be ferritin only or does it have to be the whole iron panel? > > Of course I hope to be able to get everything tested, but finances are unbelievably unavailable at this time... So I'm wondering the order to plan for if I can afford one at a time, every few months hopefully. > > Thanks!!! >
Guest guest
hey alexis, > the iron panel is pretty cheap on econolabs.com at only $23... > what??? in the links on sttm the full iron panel was like $150 and the ferritin only was $45! I just checked econolabs, and it does say iron panel but doesn't say that ferritin is included. do you know if it is? also the thyroid panel is like $380 on my medlabs(or whatever labs that has the sttm discount) I will look at all of these, thanks SO MUCH. this is so disheartening not being able to afford what i need just to get healthy. Thank you so much!! So again, I'm just wondering which to test first, the iron seems the one only because it's the least expensive and i really barely have anything to work with > > the iron panel is pretty cheap on econolabs.com at only $23... > > > hey lisa, just my two cents, > i would go with the full iron panel... if you are wondering what your iron levels are, ferritin alone may not give you the most accurate picture, as it could be extremely elevated in times of inflammation and stress while your other iron levels are low. a full iron panel (iron, iron saturation, tibc, uibc) will give a more comprehensive picture. > the iron panel is pretty cheap on econolabs.com at only $23... > > and as for thyroid if you go to healthcheckusa and use the Stopthethyroidmadness discount a full thyroid panel is only 75$...(if you use the discount code STTM10) those are really great prices in my opinion, and maybe affordable together? > i think the saliva cortisol test is more around $150, but i'm not sure?? It depends how you feel. what meds you are on, what residual symptoms you have, temperature, pulse etc. Nick
Guest guest
the iron panel on econolabs includes iron, iron saturation, TIBC, and UIBC, which show your bodies ability to bind iron at that time.... it does NOT include ferritin unfortunately. the ferritin alone is $25. so if you got the iron panel and the ferritin, that would be only $48, not bad for all of that together. i had seen someone post this reference before and i jumped at it bc i pay out of pocket like you, and i support myself and my boyfriend on my measely little job, so i really have to struggle to budget these things in, i'm sure like many others in this group. on a side note, when i got my iron labs and my thyroid labs, i got them from two different sources but did them both at labcorp on the same day. well if you dont tell them specifically that you got the lab orders from two seperate places, they will just send them both to the same place. this caused quite a mixup as econolabs lost my vile, and after a weeks time they cleared it all up, and they were really great about the whole thing though, and i would use them again in a heartbeat, actuallly im trying to figure out which labs to order in the next few days here. during this mix up i spoke with a girl on the phone that said they will match any other price offered by any other lab order source... so if i let them know of the deal i could get for a thyroid panel at healthcheck, they will match that price. the healthcheck panel includes tsh, ft4, ft3... it does not include Rt3. but this didnt really matter to me as i know my serum Rt3 is nonexistant now. hope this helps lisa:) good luck:D > > > > the iron panel is pretty cheap on econolabs.com at only $23... > > > > > > hey lisa, just my two cents, > > i would go with the full iron panel... if you are wondering what your iron levels are, ferritin alone may not give you the most accurate picture, as it could be extremely elevated in times of inflammation and stress while your other iron levels are low. a full iron panel (iron, iron saturation, tibc, uibc) will give a more comprehensive picture. > > the iron panel is pretty cheap on econolabs.com at only $23... > > > > and as for thyroid if you go to healthcheckusa and use the Stopthethyroidmadness discount a full thyroid panel is only 75$...(if you use the discount code STTM10) those are really great prices in my opinion, and maybe affordable together? > > i think the saliva cortisol test is more around $150, but i'm not sure?? >

Guest guest
that's fantastic alexis! Thanks so much! Would you be able to send me a message at roth.39@... as to the best places/ ways to get all the proper tests so I can start preparing? Also, i am currently on my period *(tmi, sorry men who read this so I'm wondering about if that would affect any tests? I may be able to actually get a dr. to order them for me for today or tomorrow, and I'm considering just doing it that way if the lab will bill for payment later! What would the protocol be for iron testing? any special times/ etc? I don't like labcorp they have a HORRIBLE reputation.... Thanks!!!!!!!!! > > the iron panel on econolabs includes iron, iron saturation, TIBC, and UIBC, which show your bodies ability to bind iron at that time.... > it does NOT include ferritin unfortunately. the ferritin alone is $25. so if you got the iron panel and the ferritin, that would be only $48, not bad for all of that together. i had seen someone post this reference before and i jumped at it bc i pay out of pocket like you, and i support myself and my boyfriend on my measely little job, so i really have to struggle to budget these things in, i'm sure like many others in this group. > on a side note, when i got my iron labs and my thyroid labs, i got them from two different sources but did them both at labcorp on the same day. well if you dont tell them specifically that you got the lab orders from two seperate places, they will just send them both to the same place. this caused quite a mixup as econolabs lost my vile, and after a weeks time they cleared it all up, and they were really great about the whole thing though, and i would use them again in a heartbeat, actuallly im trying to figure out which labs to order in the next few days here. > during this mix up i spoke with a girl on the phone that said they will match any other price offered by any other lab order source... so if i let them know of the deal i could get for a thyroid panel at healthcheck, they will match that price. > the healthcheck panel includes tsh, ft4, ft3... it does not include Rt3. but this didnt really matter to me as i know my serum Rt3 is nonexistant now. > hope this helps lisa:) good luck:D >
