Guest guest
Tonia, You can't test ft3 after taking your dose. The test results are meaningless, unfortunately. :-( Also, who knows what your ft3 is if you don't take the same dose every day. You really need to take your pills consistantly and then get the ft3 done fasting after your last dose at bedtime. Otherwise, you get false highs from taking it before the test and no one can really tell what your ft3 " really " is. Moreover, you have no idea what dose is even right for you as you don't take the same dose every day, thus, you have different levels in your blood from one day to the next. Nick has a great way to do it: he puts all the pills for his daily dose in a pillbox and carries it with him so he KNOWS whether he's missed a dose or not. EVERY doctor, even the stupid ones, usually stamp lab reqs with " NO THYROID BEFORE LABS. " So tell your doctor you took your meds right before the test. That should get them off your back and ask for another lab req. But make sure to take the SAME EXACT dose every single day for 5 days before doing the test again as this will establish a steady serum state. Sorry! They are calling me back but in the meantime I wanted to run this by everyone and see what you all think. > > I haven't been very good about consistancy of what I am taking and that is a problem, but I cut the 25 mg in half and have 4 laying on the bathroom counter each day. I always take 2 of them a day for sure and then sometimes I take the other two (around noon and again around 4-5) otherwise I take one in the morning and one at bedtime and these are defient. > > I took 1/2 a tablet approx 30 minutes prior to lab work. > > Free T3 8.0 (2.3-4.2) > Free T4 0.20 (0.58-1.64) > TSH 0.06 (0.34-5.60) > > My Reverse T3 isn't back yet. > > So based on these labs what dosage do you think would be best for me now? > > Tonia >
