Guest guest
someone mentioned a while ago putting regular aspirin in shampoo in order to get salasilic acid. I tried it, but it didn't seem to do much for my spots on my scalp. Did anyone else have better luck with that?
Guest guest
I have tried just about every lotion to help my P. They work then stop. For the holidays my mother gave me hemp foot lotion and body cream. It makes even my toes smoother. Cure maybe not, but relief definitely. Guest guest
I dont have the P, just the PA, but my scalp does itch alot...without any lesions or flaking. Wonder why? I thought psoriasis did not itch? The weird thing is, it itches UNDER the patch, like deep under the skin, so even though I scratch and pick (yes, yes, I admit it!), it never really does get rid of the itch. Guest guest
Hi Sharon -- Psoriasis does itch, but depending on the type and severity, not all the time. -- Jan O', Alaska Sharon Hanna wrote: > I dont have the P, just the PA, but my scalp does itch > alot...without any lesions or flaking. Guest guest
I would imagine that adding regular aspirin to shampoo is not as simple as it would appear. Aspirin can break down and become ineffective with age. Have you ever opened an bottle of aspirin and smelled a vinegar type smell coming from the bottle? That odor means the aspirin has broken down. Also aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. I don't know if it is a effective on psoriasis lesions as salicylic acid. If I were going to try some version of the aspirin trick I would just dissolve one in some warm water and apply the solution to my scalp. Food for thought. Guest guest
For scalp problems, I use Oxi Por. It is a dark liquid that I put in a small plastic squeeze bottle. I use it on my scalp at bedtime. It stays on my scalp overnight causing the lesions and flaking to loosen. I just wash my hair in the mornings and scrub the flakes away. It is strong and has an odor, but I only have to use it about one week a month to keep the flakes down. It costs about $15.00 over the counter and lasts me about 4 months. Guest guest
> I > thought psoriasis did not itch? Psoriasis itches *intensely* and is well known for that. Many people wake themselves up at night from itching and few find relief. What I use is Lidocaine. My theory is, if you can't feel it, it can't itch. I have spoken with my derm about using it, and he said it was ok. Good luck. Liz

Guest guest
I've got some hemp oil lotion for my hands from the Body Shop. It is very silky and penetrates the skin. I love it because most lotions are water based and wear off quickly where this one lasts for a while. >>> TADEL630@... 01/04/02 07:32AM >>> In a message dated 01/04/2002 2:35:23 AM Eastern Standard Time, sleepless96@... writes: > my mother gave me hemp foot lotion and body cream Jen - hmmm, that almost sounds illegal if ya smoke it Where did she get that? Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am new to the group and have enjoyed reading all the questions and answers and the encouragment that has been going on. My daughter Lily (5 months toady) has been in her Starband for a week now and everything has been going smoothly, but her head as of today has started to get a little "flakey". I have been using the Aveno baby shampoo, but is there anything else anybody recommends? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!! Kari in CA. Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
I have used Pentrax 3% shampoo. It is a tar shampoo, pricey, but I swear by it. I also have problems with my ears and would be interested to hear some suggestions. Thank You, Eileen G
